20cv pm2

I told myself I was going to wait for another run of the red/M390 but I can feel myself getting weak.

I also told myself that the Spyderco forum knife was coming soon, but I don't think that is going to work either!
Red m390 dropped on my bday, missed it!
Had to get Rex45 on fleabay @179.99 luckily. First Sprint from a secondary dealer...
So, keeping the faith for this one. M390 fan
with a back up plan. LoL
EDC 110 blurple loving it.

My only other PM2 is a regular S30V and it is really my first attempt at sharpening this steel and I am really hating it. I finally broke down and ordered some CBN rods for the Sharpmaker and now I'm finally making some headway, but still, sheesh. The hope is that this steel will be a little easier to handle with the SM.

My 110 blurple military, while it's never been very dull, seems a lot easier to keep the edge on.

I love that these are being offered but I will probably pass... just picked up the PM2 in M390 on the secondary market so this would be a duplicate to some extent

You are the first one that I see saying s30v is more difficult to sharpen/maintain than s110v.

I don't think my S30V came with a very good edge, and that probably has more to do with it. I got my military at the SFO, so I was able to check out my particular example.

I highly recommend with these wear resistant steels that you do not let them get dull in the first place. First thing I do when I get a new knife is boost the sharpness with the fine sharpmaker stones. Or if you are proficient at stropping you could do that.

After that just spend a few minutes touching it up either once a week or when you get a chance after some particularly heavy use.

The real joy in super steels is that as long as you keep them touched up they will stay sharp for super long. It is a mistake to use them until they go dull and then spend hours sharpening them. Just like at the end of the week you would spend a little time sharpening an aus 8 blade do the same thing and soend a few mins touching up your super steel blades. As long as you keep them touched up it will actually take you less time per session to bring them back to razor sharp vs bringing back a lower end steel from dull. That is how you can spend less time sharpening super steels than low end steels. Then they become a real pleasure to use.

Even though I already have a 390 and 204, I'll still pick this 20 one up. Unique color scales!

This is definitely one method, but to me you never really get to enjoy the "superness" of these steels if you're constantly touching them up. I think the whole allure of high wear resistance is that once the extreme level of sharpness degrades the edge still maintains a good deal of aggressiveness due to the carbides. I understand that comes at the cost of longer sharpening sessions eventually though. Different strokes.

Personally, I'd gladly trade a few licks on a Spyderco ceramic bench stone, strop or Sharpmaker as the occasion warrants, for a more protracted session on diamond stones.

In the end, sharpening will be inevitable but far less arduous.

As ejames says, YMMV.

I really dig how saint nick knives catered the release of their new knife exclusive to the working man/woman. Considering the majority of working people are 7am-3pm or 9am-5pm. They timed it for the most part, after work, 7PM central.

Maybe DLT will consider this on their next release.

Not trying to be a stick in the mud, but just expressing my reality. Anyone else feel me on this?
If so, now's a good time to let 'em know.

Maybe DLT knows lots of people after work will need to attend their children and make sure not to be caught by wives for buying another knife?;)

I'm new here, but I can't stand to imagine children being neglected, or a marriage destroyed, by dropping an exclusive ! Spydiefreaks will buy any knife they 'need' whenever they need a fix.:p And dealers could drop an exclusive at any hour day or night, and sell it out ASAP!:) I am single, and childless BTW , is it really gonna keep families together? LOL If its dropping during working hours and someone loses their job, maybe this is an addiction!
How many Spyderco's are too many? I refuse to answer on the fear of self incrimination

Some guy spending a little while online isn’t the same thing as “...children being neglected, or a marriage destroyed...”. There’s a very big difference between the two and IMO it’s wildly out of place to equate those two things. You could say the same thing about mom watching her soaps or yakking on the phone with her friends during the day.

Point taken Stumpy, it was late!
My post was meant to be a little funny, guess I sounded offensive.
SORRY ALL!

I plan on getting one. I wish the Shaman would come in a similar configuration as well.

This thread needs more pics.
