$250 burning a hole, what to get?

Benchmade Super Freek, Hogue Ritter RSK Full size or mini I guess, there are a ton of WE and Kizer options but I’ve started moving away from these personally.

I never bought the Super Freek, though I admit that I considered it several times. I can definitely agree on the Hogue Ritter - I've carried the mini more than the full size. I'll throw a spider monkey into the mix - then say JayDeep JayDeep it's fine to not like the looks of a knife...but trash talking a knife (or anything) you know little to nothing about is silly. If you don't like polymer handles, they also come (stock) with g10. Chunky ripping and tearing blade? Fat blade? At 0.11" it's thinner stock than many folders.

Just going off of reviews on YouTube and personal taste. The FRN scales are the trash ones. Much like my mini Bugouts and the "grivory".

how about 270.00 USD?

I have never paid as much as $250 for a knife. But I have been pleasantly surprised by my Liong_Mah Traveller non-locking double-detent at something over $200. Out of the box, it slices Amazon padded envelopes extremely well. I have to use two hands to open it, but it closes nicely with one hand and has a finger choil to make that relatively safe.

The deka are not very good. The plastic is seriously junk. The heat treat isn't good. The blades are too thin and will bend fairly easily. They have a long way to go to be considered good.

Sounds like you need to change your carry habits. Get yourself a nice minimalist wallet, or maybe a piggy bank - ease the burn & stop spending money on knives for a while. You aren't, by your own admission, making good choices. Take some time to get to know the knives you have...that could take a bit, since you don't use them; but you'll likely find it worthwhile.

American Blade Works Model 1 V6 can be bought on the forum for $150-$190 and I frankly think this is one of the most underrated American made knives available for under $200

..... what appears to be a V-grind, on the blade is not at all slicey and I don't do anything not slicey anymore. I hate fat blades. The thinner the better.
How did you arrive at the conclusion that a flat grind can't be "slicey"? And specifically, what is the blade thickness and height on the deka?

Also, if all you do is open a package or cut a zip tie once in awhile, why would that rule a particular knife out in your specific case? Those things you mention don't really require a super thin grind.

Why did you include your mini bugout in the “only own 3 knives” thread?
Because the size is still perfect and even though the grivory suck, they don't appear to suck anywhere near as bad as these Deka scales. I watched a YouTube pinch his hands between the scales several times during normal cardboard breakdown. My grivory flex but not so far as to touch.

The Deka doesn't look like a flat grind to me. Looks much like a Griptilian V-grind to my eyes, which I hate. Part is it is the use of it, part of it is the aesthetics. I don't like the look of most grinds except hollow and full flat (or at least really close to full flat) and always on really thin blade stock.

So my uses aren't the issue, it's my preference.
