$250 burning a hole, what to get?

Also, while you may have never hear of Hogue before, they've been in the gun game making stocks and grips for over 50 years... A bit Newer name to the knife game, but brought in designers, most notably a legend in Elishewitz for design help, they teamed up with Doug Ritter, founder and activist with Knife Rights, (fighting for our rights to carry the knives we love! Like Auto's now being legal in PA as of this year, yay!), and they also make some knives on subcontract for other manufacturers and brands such as an otf for Boker, and gun branded knives for Sig Sauer and Heckler & Koch, plus all are made in the USA, so fair to say they're a pretty legit company...

Don't waste your time trying to educate him. The OP was just temporarily banned for his troll-like posts and insults towards members.

You know it was weird he asked about the deka. I chimed in more so I could follow the thread and said I've been looking at them too but don't know about the handle. He fired right back with they are trash. I was like wait hold on yep you're the op so what is even going on here

If you look at his posts and the threads he’s started, the op seems to enjoy firing everyone up.

He can get this book for only $12.

If you take everything I know about knives, roll it up into a ball, and set it on the cutting edge of a razor it will look like a golfball in the middle of The New Jersey Turnpike.

That said...

I was looking for a "tool" type pocket knife with enough of a handle for my XXXL glove-sized hands, but not too long a blade - say sub-4".

I ordered a tanto blade Cold Steel Recon-1 for about a hundred bucks and a CS AD-10 for about 145 - with the intent of keeping the cheapest one that worked and sending the other back.

Turned out that the tanto blade worked well for it's primary intended use: opening boxes and was also good for prying or scraping things where a paint scraper would also work.

But the AD-10, with it's novel locking scheme, was so interesting to play around with that I kept both knives.

Now I have a knife to match each color 511 cargo pants that I wear: black and olive.

The AD-10 was scary-sharp out of the box, but the Recon was not that sharp and needed re-shaping.

Both are s35vn steel (whateverthehell that is...)

There are better steels than S35VN, but I don't much care. As far as a general use stainless, it works for me. Easy enough to sharpen, holds a good edge, what's not to like? I like it best in small to medium sized fixed blades, under about 6 or 6-1/2 inches generally, but it works well in folders, too. I've been carrying a 4.5" x .130" S35VN fixed blade every day for almost 4 years, with no complaints. Opens a lot of boxes for me, packing tape, works cardboard nicely, etc, and then cuts my steak.

I also wondered about the OP. Almost any suggestion made was shot down instantly, like we're supposed to know what he likes, or care. So, he doesn't like crowds. BFD!! I don't like crowds either. But I put up with them, on occasion, just to at least pretend to have a life. And to find knives that I like.

Let him do his own research. I'm outta this one....
