2500 post Giveaway

Hi all,
I'm pretty new here so I figured this would be a good chance to introduce myself. Far to many good books to pick a favorite so the book is just one I read recently that I enjoyed. It is about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis during WWII. I enjoy all kinds of history books especially WWII, and turn of the century Chicago. While most people probably wouldn't call a soddie precious the one pictured is special to me. It was my first good knife and my faithful everyday companion for over two years before I added to my small collection.

I guess I'm not quite sure how to make the pictures work right. So the knife is a yellow handled Case Sodbuster Jr. CV. The book is In Harms Way by Doug Stanton.

Thanks for the chance .... great knife and a great book (I love the Good Old Classics)

... me and a my best friend as we went off the Wirtshaus at Baby Max`s baptism ;)

Book and knife:

The book changed my thinking and goals in life more consciously than any other I have read. The knife is a Northwoods Indian River Jack in CPM 154 and mammoth ivory. It is my first nice slipjoint and I carry it all the time. I am really falling for traditionals now, awesome give-away!

thanks guys for playing
keep em coming. Not sure how long i will let this run, probably a week, longer if interest keeps up!

its nice to put some faces to the names :)

ps
Andi, where's your book? :eek::D

Pinnah - It's nice to read someone else has an appreciation for Berry's work. Thanks for the encouragement as well. What does the hat represent?

Woodrow - Lord of the Rings is my fav fiction work. I took a road trip across county and got LOR on cd. It fit perfectly for the trip. Especially, going through the Bad Lands as Frodo and Sam hit Mordor.

Not an entry although the knife is sweet.

KBA - The Bible changed my life in a quite similar way. Although not my story exactly a friend once said..."Took acid in the '60s ('70s, '80s) trying to see God. Finally saw God and he told me to quit taking acid."

My favorite work of fiction I could not pick but Lord of the Rings might be it. Although, jacktrades_nbk, I'm pretty sure I've read all of Lovecraft's work as well.

I also could not pick a fav knife but I love my Barlows and lovingly use this one when I feel like it.

Now here for the auntie climax, here I am molesting John Alden at the Mayflower 2 on a trip to Plymouth.

Put a handle on my head and you've got the ugliest mug in town.

Now, all the other non-enterers gotta ante up a personal pic too.

and my currect favorite book,(yes there are more than just pictures, lol) and my current favorite Knife. A G.E.C. Northfield Natural Stag #47 Viper.

i believe Redbeardo is doing the "tradewater"
but not sure if he is familiar with the becker side of things :D
I like to call it the "Traditional Redbeardo Boogiewoogie ChooChoo". Any time I'm showin' my "guns" it means there's a good time to be had.
That pic was taken in Maui on my wife and I's adventure Weddin' honeymoon trip. Might should add that this is my favorite Case knife, I refer to this one as my weddin' knife. Had it in my pocket in that picture.

Congrats on your 2500th post RSmith! I've enjoyed your contributions here and our ongoing Peanut v Texas Jack feud. Great idea for a thread too. :)

Nobody can hope to beat Redbeardo's "boogiewoogie choochoo" but nonetheless I'll humbly jump into the fray :)

The Bible needless to say. But as for books written by lowly mankind I'll say this one has impacted my outlook more than any other in regards to the relationship between man and government...

The knife? This was a tough one as several are very dear to me, but when push comes to shove and I'm forced to choose a favorite, I must to defer to my very first GEC, the #55 Houndstooth in Autumn Gold... I hadn't had a traditional pocket knife since my Cub Scout knife in the early 70's, but BF's Traditional forum rekindled my love for them and the 55 was my first, with many to follow after :)

Hello-- Thank you for the opportunity to put faces on some people that we only visit with in cyber space-Hard to pick a book but as far as adventures go hard to beat Amarillo Slim-He buddied up with Benny Binion who opened the Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas-He would travel anywhere for a bet and it didn't matter what kind-he once bet the top table tennis player in the world he could beat him-- he picked the paddles and he did beat him--and again he beat him-the stories abound--kind of[knife 011.jpgknife 013.jpgknife 014.jpgknife 017.jpg like Alaska still some frontier and frontier ideas--they brought the game of Texas Hold Em to Las Vegas-the knives came as one-they are made by Tobbe Luntstrom-- the sheaths are awesome all hand tooled and stitched from the inside-no stich marks on the outside at all--beautiful mammoth ivory with walrus in the middle-Thanks to all--Happy Trails To All

The book is the 75th anniversary of the book Alcoholics Anonymous. My older copy stays in my car. I can definitely relate to the alcohol and drug troubles. I've been clean for almost 2 years and am 24 and happily attending my 2nd semester at college. I would've never thought I would say that.

Oh and the knife, it's my oldest knife I own. Not my most valuble, nor is it the prettiest, but I love it.
Thanks for the opportunity.
