The book is the 75th anniversary of the book Alcoholics Anonymous. My older copy stays in my car. I can definitely relate to the alcohol and drug troubles. I've been clean for almost 2 years and am 24 and happily attending my 2nd semester at college. I would've never thought I would say that.

Oh and the knife, it's my oldest knife I own. Not my most valuble, nor is it the prettiest, but I love it.

I'll play, but I was recently gifted a beautiful trapper so this is not an entry.

Here I am with my (rather pregnant and uncomfortable) wife and two dogs.



My favourite knife. I don't know why this gec half congress and I became so attached, there is no real reason for it, but I love it.



My favourite book. I'd love to be able to say it was something really profound and that it changed my life and that it was something that made me look really deep and intellectualish and what not.... but honestly it's none of those things.

I spent my late teens as a Scot living in Wales. Anyone who ever visited Wales will know that only one thing in this world really matters. Rugby.

Live it, breathe it, love it. I am a sort of British Mongrel really (Although a Scot deep down, and I was born here) I've lived in all four countries of the UK and so the Lions are special to me. I would say that any sports fan would find this worth reading. He is an excellent chap.



...oh and by the way, he is now a Knight, so it's Sir Ian McGeechan.

Well I came across this thread (a bit late) as I was taking a break from reading what has to be my choice, and fondling the knife that is my choice, so after a quick pic at work:

The trail guide is my massage reference so basically a massage bible if you will, and the Executive Whittler was my present to myself for completing the program and starting the only profession I have had, and only job I have loved!

Here I am this weekend teaching my kids how to trap birds!

Not an entry, since I recently "won" a GAW sponsored by Cory Hess, and I haven't developed an appropriate appreciation of trappers (although I've been happily using a Rough Rider trapper as a kitchen/food prep knife for about 4 months).

But I love the idea of some recent "getting to know you" GAWs, so I'll post the requested photos. Here's a photo of my wife, our daughter, me, and one of our 3 dogs when my daughter, who lives in Spain, was home for Christmas a couple of years ago:

Like some others who've posted here, the Bible is certainly the most important book in my life, but it's not "easy reading" for me. Since the whole knife thing is a new, fun hobby for me, I thought I'd go with a more fun book(s). Here's a photo of the knife that rekindled my interest in pocket knives last January (the Imperial at bottom of picture; the peanut I received thru Cory's generosity is at top) along with one of my favorite works of fiction.

But here's another important book and knife for me. The SAK Camper displays the 2 blades I've found most useful in taking up whittling, and the book was a seminal work in the "sabermetric revolution" in baseball.

My favorite books are located in the Bible, but that's already been taken. My next favorite to read is Brian Greene's The Elegant Universe. I mostly read fiction, but this book does such a good job of explaining astrophysics, relativity and quantum physics in layman terms. I reread it every couple of years and thoroughly enjoy it every time.

The knife is my pioneer bone #23. It has been in my pocket every day since I received it just over a month ago. I couldn't be happier with this knife.

It's great to be able to put a face to a name. Great idea.

So here it goes! This book, and and actually Kerouac as an author, helped me a a younger man find my path in life. To appreciate every moment and find out what is truly important to me. Dharma Bums in particular struck a chord with me. As for the knives my favorite being the tinker. I threw the schrade in there because it was in my pocket. :)

This was right after my youngest was born. You can actually see the exhaustion in my face.

I'm in! Great giveaway!! My family and I love to hunt and fish. So, my sig pic is of me and my family with a hog we got on a hunt where we were all together. And, my avatar is me with a large Aoudad ram that I took up in the Panhandle of Texas. I'll include a few recent hunting and fishing photo's of me and my kiddo's.

Here is one from September 1, 2014, opening day of dove season in Texas. It's me and my youngest son, Matt. He shot a limit of dove(15), and beat me cause I only got 13. It was one whale of a hunt with clouds of whitewings and morning doves.

Me and my daughter, Michelle, on a shooting outing. She shoots an AR-15 almost as well as me. And, she's not bad with my .45 either!

And, here is Michelle and Matt on a recent turkey hunt. Michelle killed a nice tom, and Matt sure gave it a good try. But, the toms were henned up for him, and he didn't get a shot.

My oldest son is more of a fisherman. He loves shark fishing, and has many to his credit.

This is a pic of my favorite knife, an old Schrade Old Timer 25OT. I love this pattern. I have several, some of the scrimshaw too. But, this one gets carried the most. And, it's pictured with the one modern thing I read the most, my laptop. Books, while great, are outdated. And, now days I read almost exclusively on my laptop, or my cell phone. I even read the bible on each. I have a bible app that is great, and will read TO ME. Technology is a wonderful thing!!

These pics are just a glimpse into the life of my family. My wife and I adopted our three kids when they were babies. Mitch and Michelle are twins. And, Matt is the youngest. They've been hunting and fishing since they were old enough to walk. We live an outdoors lifestyle. So, knives play a huge role in our everyday lives, and our lifestyle. We all enjoy using and carrying knives. I prefer Case, Queen, and Schrade slippies with carbon steel. I hope you enjoyed the pics!

Cory Hess - I may have to check out that book. I've been interest in quantum mechanics for years. Im terrible at math so I never studied it but love reading about it.

Aias - I know movies are usually worse than the book, or are at least poorly done, but I have been thinking about reading "The Road" after I saw the movie.
