2nd Amendment

I guess we are less frightened of the devil we don't know rather than the one we do.

Obama swore to us that, even if he wanted to, he couldn't take our guns because he didn't have the votes on capitol hill to do so. Guess what? The Dems are expected to get majority in both the senate and the house come election day. Anybody who isn't worried about that must have icewater flowing through his veins.
DC Vs. Heller was not quite the final, decisive victory for the second ammendment that most people seem to think. It has yet to be incorperated. Until then it only struck down DC's ban. DC has been dragging it's feet and delaying the process(because it can) and very few people are actually able to purchase handguns or register them as of yet. They wouldn't let the plaintiff(Heller) register his 1911 because it qualifies in the eyes of DC law as a machine gun.
Those advocates of the second ammendment ought to know that things can still be taken away from us and that Heller is not the end of the struggle. The highly controversial Katrina firearms confiscation by the authorities still has not resulted in the personal property of the citizenry being returned. There was a recent 'victory' by the NRA that calls for a plan on returning those firearms, but it hasn't happened yet. How many years has it been?

All our partisan bickering won't really change anything and there is more than enough blame to go around for our economy being in ruins. A Republican occupying the White House is more than enough reason for most people to vote for change. Will we get it?

I am on the McCain side, not because I like him (I don't) but because Obama is an anti-gun, anti-america communist. The Dems nomination of him shows their blatant contempt for us and nothing less. The Dems had a chance to nominate someone more realistic and representative candidate for the american people - and they didn't; they instead chose the most controversial and radical leftist person they had, and I speculate this is because they are counting on a backlash against the GOP because of Bush's approval ratings in the polls. Perhaps they theorized the time is right to go full steam ahead with their agenda of creating the United Socialist States of Amerika.

The message I interpret from this, from the DNC to the american people is a loud "UP YOURS!!!"

Mark my words, if Obama gets in, he will make Stalin look like Reagan.

Every dictator in human history has obtained power by posing as a messiah to the people foolish enough to buy into it.

Consider your words marked.

I have a friend who says Reagan would be as bad as Hitler. I marked his words as well. He's tired if hearing them, but he asked for it.

Count me among the millions who loves his country, recognizes its shortcomings, but abhors the divisions that come with politics. I'm supposed to adhere to the standards of one media, ignore the other, and call it wrong, hate 50% of the country, blindly follow one candidate, and not recognize the valid arguments the other side makes.

Seems like a comprehensive, balanced viewpoint... but it's not an easy option for everyone, for reasons touched upon below:

It's your obligation to do your own research before you vote instead if being a lemming and following what you are told by an obviously bias group. It goes both ways for both people running.

The problem being, trying to separate the wheat from all the chaff of each party/interest is a monumental task, often one too daunting for folk with full-time jobs. But to those of you that do investigate issues with scientific, objective rigour, I concede you are better men than I!

No matter your sources, someone with a divergent viewpoint will always question the reliability of these sources. It's easier to pick the position/party you like, and just dismiss the opposition outright. I'd be a hypocrite for trying to blame anyone for seeking the path of least resistance though. :(

Man, Obama would have to do some really heinous stuff for your prediction to ring true! But, bein' an HI fan, I'll give you a little license for politically impassioned exaggeration. :D

Fiddleback you forgot #13.Obama think's it's a good idea that we pay a 1 percent tax to the U.N. to help fund their projects, and propoganda.

Thanks for the trolling guys.

I expected nothing less from ya'll.

This is the third time I've been trolled on this forum for daring to speak my mind, foolishly forgetting I'm not that popular to begin with.

Let's play nice, guys. However, let's not forget that politics is like knives and fire. You mess around with them long enough, you're gonna get cut or burned. Lets try to keep this thread like one that belongs in the Cantina. Ya know, amongst friends. There are a whole mess of snarky ones to play in in the political forum.

Thanks:)

Wolf-1989,

When quite polite expressions of disagreement -- or simply doubt, in my case -- is called "trolling," that term ("trolling") ceases to have a useful meaning. Disagreement is allowed, whether disageement with friend HD or disagreement with you. What is desired is a lack of scorched-earth rhetoric and personal attacks..

the difference between obama and stalin is that obama wants to kill us with kindness and good intentions. he still hasn't proved he's a U.S. Citizen tho.

p.s. - my dog is obviously a u.s. citizen, she was born in hawaii, i have the proof. she, however is sadly unlikely to survive to 2035 to meet the age requirement to run for pres. i can trace her ancestors back to 1778 however (a greyhound named 'yellow eared phoenix', born 1778).

That our canine companions live such a relatively short life compared to ours is the greatest sadness and unfairness of having a dog.

"Until you have loved a dog, a part of your soul remains unawakened!"

No one is ever truly EVIL though. Stalin, Hitler, Castro, Hussein...They've all meant well and had good intentions. Just like Obama has good intentions....

Surprisingly, I got one of those chain emails just last night comparing Obama to Stalin. It made for a pretty funny read. I thought I was far right clinging to my guns and religion! Wow! that one made me feel like a fence sitting loser.:D

My sister-in-law read me a stupid chain email about "Pick the Leader You Would Want" where Leaders A, B, and C all had a little passage about them where one was kicked out of school or something, one drank all day, one was a goodie-goodie. Of course you are supposed to pick C. C is in fact Hitler. A and B were FDR and Churchill respectfully. Oh my goodness, I was so shocked:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Seriously, i long for the days where we all can come together as a country and hate the president in a unified manner:D Tuesday can't get here soon enough for me.

I have lived in countries where people were "unified." Take my word for it, the only true evil in the world is a UNIFIED PEOPLE.
Without the dynamic, flexible, tolerant nature of a people who DO NOT share the same beliefs about everything, we become true monsters.
We are supposed to disagree. We are supposed to take turns in the White House.
I know it might sound hard to believe, but even our weak form of racism is a good thing.
We do not consider ourselves as Americans to be "one tribe" with "one opinion."
The sins of Germany and Japan were really only possible because of their "unified" natures.
