3000 Posts - Knife Give Away

Great pictures! Thanks guys. Good to see some fish pictures. Love seeing a nice bass or trout. I have to put in my favorite bass sequence. My youngest's first bass, caught while crappie fishing at a friends private pond:

First - The "Look what I caught!" picture

Next - The "C'mon Dad, he's gettin heavy!" picture

Barry, does a Fluke put up a good fight? Still time for a couple more days of entries.

Since I am not in the draw, I am cheating with another post, to bump up a worthy but languishing thread. This is my father's father. He used knives. :)

I'm in. Down south they call these Flounder, Here in New York we call them FLUKE. This one was 9 Lbs. on the button. Caught on my friends boat 4 Miles south of Jones Beach in 55 feet of water with a 1 1/2oz home made Bucktail. After filleting the fish the stomach contents revealed a 10" fluke inside the belly.

Shoot! Down here we refer to one that big as a "saddle blanket"! ;) Nice, tasty fish! I love stuffed flounder.

Hal, Yes, they put up a nice fight. In deep water you reel in 10 feet of line they take back 5. Fish this size put your tackle to the test. Now in NY Fluke have to be 21" to keep, so only one in ten or fifteen are keepers. The one in the photo was 28". We call them DOOR MATS up here. Barry

I'll let some other lucky fella win this knife, but it's a nice one and a great gesture. Someone will be happy. This is a great thread. I am enjoying it.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I took this picture out in the Mojave desert. It was my first time in a desert and being used to wet and/or humid weather, I was mightily impressed.

Oh boy!! Thanks Thawk --I thought I'd show a picture of Kansas. No mountains, no volcanoes, no vast shore line, just lots of rolling prairie and farm land.

This is my 14 year old son and old Roscoe. Roscoe was born at my place, a pup out of my old Jewel female. I kept him because he was born with a crooked tail and nobody else wanted him. Well, that crooked tail doesn't hinder him when it comes to treeing the masked bandit. :)

This is me and my two boys, getting ready to go ride out some pastures one day this past winter. The little Paint horse I am on is a whale of a cowpony...he was feeling little frisky that day and tried to buck me off a few minutes after the pic was taken. Fortunately the old man manged to stay with him. If i hadn't that tall kid on the bay horse would have never let me hear the end of it. he can ride anything with hair.

BTW, thanks for the contest. :)

Awesome picture!

Below is a picture of my great grandpa getting ready to take off on one of his long hunting/trapping jaunts in the Ozarks. He hunted and trapped furs all winter, every winter, staying out for days at a time and coming home to work the hides.

Hounds and horses are pretty much in my blood i guess.
