334dave's Alpha-scaled 110 Workman

I'd settle for a 110 with the same rubber grip material that is on the vanguard. Doesn't have to be pacmar, I'm ok with that.
I'd like to see a rubber scaled 110 in the premium steels (good suggestion trax)... s30v for example. How cool would that be... anodized or polished.

Yes vanguard scales would be neat also! Nice pattern and grip there also!

O.K. Dave, if Buck doesnt want to go with this idea, when will you start taking orders to make custom "Rubber Buckies"?? :D

I hope you have alot of free time LOL ;)

Interchangeable grips has a certain appeal. It lets you 'upgrade' your knife as budget allows, and it lets you customize as the need arises.

What's the update on the possibility?

strange you asked!
i jest talked with Joe this week and he said it is under real consiteradition !
some were it is in some ones office and being thought about..
some issues were copy rights which i said i give to them as If i had any and
if they had to 'buy' any rights ...well one of the first made would do fine ...
also that the sales slogan i come up with is very likely to be used!!!
some in the store said that they have heard it being repeted a number of times!!!

Was that the "change your mood" slogan???

Maybe making you an Honorary Vice-President in PR with a salary of $1.00 a year would satisfy the legal issues... :D

:eek:hay ! :D;):cool:i could live with that!!!:thumbup::D:thumbup::D:thumbup:;)
i would even use the "buck" to pay for my ID badge!

I'd buy at least 3 of them if they do sell them, cause i know how grippy they'd be out fishing for lobster it would be a perfect knife to have ,grippier the better, then just change out the scales for daily carry or showin' off.lol ....good one 334 !!!!!!!

you can ask Joe ...
he told me that it was still floateing around the offices ...
at risk of upseting things i will say you can tell joe that you would like to see one...

to put a rubber grip on a 110 is not hard ...
heck it took me but a short while to get it to fit right as it is not easy to line up ...

now i was thinking of sending around a two dot for the younger buck nuts to sample test the 440c... hummm if there is enught intrest i supose another one of a two dot could be made for further tougher field testing and further in depth comment ...
could kill two birds with one sample...
well?

Interesting idea Dave! Makes me think I need to take mine out of storage and start using it again... I seem to recall it being harder to get a good edge, however the edge lasts longer.

Awesome 334Dave!I have been using a 2 dot for a while ,it was mint in box ,but i ecided it was a user from the minute i got it,440 c is good stuff,I don't notice it being any harder to sharpen than anything else.

Will Buck make the knife is the question we need a answer to .lol

from what i gather i know there would be have to be a decision from leagle..
and if it is a go then i am not sure who or what offices would be next...
but that it is not jest one office or one person that can say GO and do it....
... buck would not want the warrenty issues with a lot of striped screws..

Legal, then design.

Design and Production would need to decide if it were feasible to create a while new production run to facilitate a new grip style and/or interchangeable ability. Interchangeable would require a rework of a classic knife, a signature knife.
That is not small decision even if Design says it is doable.

Then it would probably go to the Board of Directors or Vice President for Review prior to corporate approval. Depending on their business structure.

Screws/bolts are required to mount my archery equipment to my bow. No manufacturer warranties the bolts. It is just made clear in the instructions and terms of liability. If they use a special screw, just sell them cheap where knives and sold and people will not have an issue with it.

Personally, I can not afford 10 variations on the 110. I could afford the knife then buy the scales to 'accessorize'. Buck might actually end up making more money in the long run as buyers who can not, don't need, extra knives buy just the sides. I'd definitely get some user sides for hard work and then some more unique replacements for the times it is sitting in my gun case not bring actively used.

Joe and CJ ... this is not to put any pressure on you all to make one!
only another test again ... as it was a lot of fun to me following the field testing they put it through so ...
likely will do another rubber bucky if there are enught takers that want to field test one for the first time,,, or again!...
any one want to sign up?;)

have revived the old thread to carry on the testing reports!
well time for a new
Rubber Bucky
pass around...

this time it was made from a two liner 440-C steel
so that any one that has not had a chance to try out that
old fashon 440C steel can field test it also and this one has finger groves!

this knife will make the rounds with the sheath that was made for the orgional rubber bucky

By... tada...Jack ! aka rudderjt
Put me on the list for the new one ... I am anxious to see the new version.
I like finger grooves and I want to see how the sheath is holding up from all it's travels..
I'll take a look at the sheath and polish it up and check the stitching and make sure it's ready for it's trip around the country. Jack in Colorado

this pass around will be like the first one
You are to use the shot out of it.. esp on wet or slimy jobs.. why?
well....
this is primarily a real world test of the rubber handles on it and
your feed back is needed to send to buck if you think it is
some thing they should make!

so you use it hard, sharpen it up and pass it on and
POST your comments here
BTW: this knife will be the prize in my sales slogan contest this year!

here are picts of the newest one to go to testing!

the reason for this shot is ...
take note of the thickness of the brass on either
side of the rocker bar.. one side is much thicker!
any one else noticed any thing like this?

rubber bucky and a new 110 side by side and Jacks sheath
to me it has a little bit of 'fighter' look
(i am still thinking this sheath is a keeper after the field testing)

close up of alpha rubber grips

how i got the blade looking

some of that old time "Glue" that buck used and how it hangs in there
some other thread there was much discusson on the thickness
of were it joined to the bolsters this shows how thick it is
and it is color gray green not dark like the wood
so it is the buffing that blends it in not its color

were it would not let go the wood or brass!
right tough stuff!

I'll definately try it,
provided it can come to Canada, otherwise i'm out .lol.
p.s it'll be sent to the next person razor sharp.lol
no problum as flatlander said he could send it to you!
so far as field testers we have :
flat lander
razorblades
rudder jet (Jack)
tin sue,
Messer you in ?
this can go as it did before that when the one tester is done he will post so and the
next field tester in line can be sure to email him their street addy..
so Razorblades you will need to send flatlander your address when he posts that he is done in a week or so..
then when jack will send you his..
then tin sue sends jack his..
and so on..

now if you guys find any features you dont like or things you feel could improve it
say so!!! i need to know what is NOT great on this.. too thin or what ever!
i know it can not be perfict... so what is wrong with it?
