334dave's Alpha-scaled 110 Workman

...The "RubberBucky" has arrived...I had no idea what I was gonna actually see or feel upon opening the package from Bucksway this afternoon but I must admit that I was surprised pleasantly when I did. That darn thing feels really good in the hand and there's also no denying that the rubber scales look quite nice on that 110 frame. A matched set of 110 and 112 with the rubber scales would be really nice "working" Bucks. That side-draw sheath is positively a nice touch as well...gotta look into a couple of those. I'll be slicin' and dicin' with the ol' RubberBuck over the next week or so but it's quite apparent that it's in dire need of a good "Edge Rejuvenation" before anything gets sliced or diced...That 425M steel does and will sharpen up nicely...My initial impression is that it's a great idea with a very nice prototypical presentation...More on this neat knife later...:cool:

...If anyone out there is interested in Dave's "Rubberized Workman" just let me know...It really is a great idea and as to how it feels and works with the rubber scales...I can't say enough good things to do it justice. As a working 110 it's just about all you might want. It does not get slippery when wet or when covered with turkey grease. It's a fine idea that you might want to try out yourself. Let me know if ya want to try it and I'll ship 'er out to ya...Oh yeah.................I'll even send the sheath it came here with...( darn...:grumpy:...I was hopin' they'd ferget about that sheath...:p )...:D

You do us all proud Dave!!!! I will be first in line to buy a rubber buckie handeled 110. Whether or not it comes with S30V or BG42. But shirley that will be an option as well. :D

and you know when the folks at Buck get their hands on it, it will come back to you with that missing scale screw installed, and the little dings that I couldn't get totally polished out of it, all gone.

WHEN Buck goes live production, it will be fun telling the grandkids that I got to play with the proto!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Where do I sign up for one of these BG-42/ S30V rubber buckies??
I would definately be interested... :D

I was tempted to try it out but my wife has the rubber Alpha folder and I really like the grip! I knew the 110 Rubber Bucky would be great ;)

Maybe Buck would keep the model name too???? :D

Mabe the first 50 off the line could be marked and sold to all who FEILD TESTED ol Bucky! Mabe have a little party in Post Falls, cut a ribbon or something...I do vote for a oversized bolster as a option.Different colors? Wouldnt it be a natural for special projects????????????? Instead of more expensive blade etching just mold a logo into the rubber? If the cost were lower mabe it could boost sales of special projects? BUCK all of us here on the forum are here to help!

...Sunday it is ol' "Rubber Bucky Buddy"...:p...If yer even thinking about it Jim gimme a holler...It would be worth the time you take on it to feel how "neet" that rubber is on the 110...Dave did good on this "ideer"...( used the decoder...heh heh heh )...LOL...:D

Don't take the post too seriously... :p

I don't ever have a shot at the first knives. Buck gives or does ??? whatever with them... I don't have any of the first or second knives... Heck I don't even have any of the knives etched with first production run, 1 of 500. ;)

I was thinkin' about it (I know its a good idea) but, I won't slow down its trek to Post Falls! I can wait for the BG-42 ;) production model ;)
Thanks for offering this knife to test Dave! Great idea!

I'd buy one of those... it would be interesting to see where this knife has been and who handled it... got to be the most traveled 110 in history. LOL

I you read back (all 10 pages!) you will see ol RB has had some real extensive testing in a varity of field conditions. When I had it I used it fishing even covered with fish slime...No slip...It really is a gread idea for BUCK to go with........

Decaf Dave came up with a great concept here, I'd be curious to know what Joe and the boys in Idaho think about taking this concept to the next stage.

well the first thing is...legal has to have their say!
from what i understand Buck has never did a user feed back knife like this before and it has its legal issues that they have to get over first. such as to who would own the idear... course i would sign a realise if asked !!! heck it would be a great honor to see it made!

now as i wore an employee badge for a day once, i figures that pirty much makes it thiers...ya know all that exposure for an employee to get an idear in the first place thiny...:D any way they have to clear it... if not oh well ...

next Joe has handled the knife and liked it...
Jimmer told me in atlanta they were watching everything said on it...
Joe said the other day to "...send it here and a print out of what all was said would be good to have to show the devlopment guru"s "
and they will look at the feasability of devloping rubber inlays...
the alpha compound works great it is jest a molding and atachement devlopment issue... due to my haveing striped a screw i dont think they will use them!!! and bucks past experance says
NO :thumbdn:to any owner assumbility or adjustments!!!
i personaly feel that it is unlikely to have any co-op with packmar- and the leagel time on that would be years and not worth wateing for.

again this is one of thoes things that YOUA"L will have to let them know with out a dought that you would buy! if it was offered as a club knife fundraser they could see if it would be a good seller!
and i would like to get one of the proto's on that one and i is not ashamed to say so ...!!!!! heck that would be a good bribe i mean price, to sell out on !!!
however if it is never makes it to production ... well i knows were the first one come from.. ... dont i?:D
that darn 'sway wants a rubber bucky 112 now...
demanding newbie ,,, isn't he? :p;)

If Buck dosent do it... We could just send 334 down to his basement and GETTER DONE.....

Dave,

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it. I'd settle for a 110 with the same rubber grip material that is on the vanguard. Doesn't have to be pacmar, I'm ok with that.

Changeable scales are something that would be very cool, however the engineering/feasibility would have to be done by Buck.

I'd like to see a rubber scaled 110 in the premium steels (good suggestion trax)... s30v for example. How cool would that be... anodized or polished.
