$350 and need something nice to buy.

$350 you say. It's gotta be a sign. The exact price to get a small Sebenza to your door.

I actually have gotten a guy willing to trade an umnumzan or large sebenza for $350.. is it worth it more than the TFS? It'd mainly be EDC, with maybe hints of defensive whatnotsits. How sturdy are the CRK's compared to the TSF?

Kershaw Tilt is a great limited edition knife that you can find for $350. Awesome materials, great in the hand feel and in my opinion great looks.

Sebenza gets my vote:thumbup:
As for the XM i wouldn't keep my hopes high to get one for 350:D

Okay, the Umnumzan looks a tad beat up, and he said $350 so I'm not sure. It functions fine, just a semi late lock up and the ti is a tad worn due to carry. Is this still a fair price? Checking the sebenza now.

That Three Sisters looks awesome. So it's ridiculously tough ti lock or elegant thin ti lock. :P Nice. I'm really excited. How long does Three Sister take to deliver the knife? I wanted to get it before July.

It's beefy--mine came in just a few days after I contacted Jim, but I sent it back for some minor changes (nothing wrong with it, just having the edges rounded and smoothed, since I don't wear combat gloves). It was sharp, with a shallow hollow grind, thick tough blade, and wonderfully smooth. It fills the hand more than the Sebenza, and feels more like a user. A lot of folks aren't going to really use the Sebenza because it's so pretty--the TSF is nice, and very nicely finished, with great tolerances (and hand-finshing/polishing on the critical surfaces), but in a package you won't worry about using. Plus you can just email the maker and ask him about it.

The other selling point for me (besides the one-man-shop, personal custom approach), is that he does his own heat-treat and ran a forge for a long time, so he know what he's doing. Mediocre heat-treat and steel are at least as bad as mediocre finishing and lock-up, but no one ever really talks about it.

Thanks, really great input. I'm considering trying to talk him down to 325 on the Um because of late lockup and whatnot(Even though I prefer it's a tad scratched so I don't mind using it and can still say I own a freakin' sebenza, a brand new knife which at 3" is nearly legal anywhere and is a knife I could truly depend on for my life sounds nice..)

I was thinking small sebenza, 0550 and a fixed blade, or 0560 I want something high quality

I have an Chris Reeve Umnumzaan and a ZT0550. By many folks opinion, the CRK is the highest production quality folder available. And, I like my 0550. But the small Sebenza is like a mouse compared to the elephant ZT models. There just isn't any comparison at all, other than both are good quality folders. Small Sebenza for office EDC; ZT 0550 for someone who needs a very heavy-duty knife. IMO

and...I do agree with hank rearden's post above. You could even do the smaller Paramilitary 2 model, with 3.3" blade instead of 4" blades. My choice of blade-steel would be the S90V if you can find it...or the M390 or CTS-20CP which appear to be in the same top-rated group.

I have the benchmade 710 in m390 so as far as large defensive folders I consider myself pretty well. Then I have the emerson if for whatever reason I don't have the 710.

I am not allowed to sell things in this thread or am I allowed to hint at selling things, but I would suggest balisongs.
