3D printed wave mod

dang thats a nice looking grind though !

i rocked the zap strap mod on my tenacious for years , used it at work many times a day .

Thanks!

Yup. Like I said I had been thinking about designing a clamp on one ever since I first saw the zip tie mod. I just never did anything with it. I mean they have clamp on thumb studs why not a wave. tell you what I'd buy one from you for the spyderco tuff. It's way to hard to open.

Looks like a "Shark Fin"

Nice work

I think you're right I need to take this seriously, a clip over wave could be made for any knife hole / thumbstud or disc .

My 2 cents is don't see the value vs just opening with the Hole with the Spyderco knives I know about (maybe I don't know enough:D).. What got my attention was when you mentioned using it for thumb studs.. Could be marketed as a device to help break in the knife.. This could be licensed directly to knife makers and/or provided free by retailers.. Have read threads where people talk about returning CRKs cuz they are too stiff/difficult to open.. almost returned my Mcusta for this very reason. Since returns are so costly and an ongoing nightmare for both retailers and manufacturers.. this may be a good approach.

This is why...

The only thing is you should get a patent on it before some big company snatches the design
+100
I read through the thread to see if anyone had already mentioned this. This really should have been done BEFORE you posted pictures online, but what's done is done. This is going to be awesome once you get the design refined and any potential bugs worked out.

I'm sure you could pay off a craftsmen type membership quick selling these.
I haven't owned any 'waved' knives, but I want one of these for my only Spyderco! I bet the real Spyderco fans would be buying multiples of these once they became available.

NICE WORK!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I love human ingenuity. This is a great device OP. I really hope this goes somewhere for you.

With ABS or Nylon printing the sky's the limit with color and texture variations.

That is great!
When patenting your design , take care not to infringe an Emerson patent... When things go legal they can become tricky....

Patents are not always what you might think.

To create a design patent, or a utility patent shoud have been done before public disclosure. Any infringer can always refer to this thread as a prior art or public presentation.

In the case of a design patent, if once chose, they could alter the design enough to satisfy legal requirements and be beyong your reach.

There is no patent police, so even if you are awarded a patent, and it is infringed upon, it is your wallet and your lawyer that will try to attack the infringer. A large company will often bleed a small company in legal fees.

One might produce them and sell them as an arftermarket accessory, like the many custom clips available from makers.
