When I checked greateasterncutlery.net/blog/, like I do every day, I saw something new. #44 Northwoods barlow.

It looks like something I'll like. Yet again a new knife shows up when I think I'm finished getting new knives. Are you tapping my brain for information?? Hopefully it'll be a little while until they are ready to ship.

It's bigger than most of my traditional knives, and that's a good thing. It'll fill a gap.

The logo on the bolster looks nice.

Hoping for wooden handles.

That looks interesting, I'm hoping for all steel construction! O1 tool steel would be really sweet too!

That looks interesting--like a sodbuster design with extended bolsters. The blade and handle look very much like the Bullnose I have (first run version), which I like very much. Yeah, this looks like it is going to be big and stout!

Interesting. Approx. same size as the 42 Missouri but in a slipjoint/Barlow setup. I do like that blade shape a lot, and the Northwoods stamped bolster is a fine touch.

A little big though. If it came in at 3.75 or so I would be there on opening day!

looks like a very nice knife in the making , with some pretty wood or jigged bone or soup bone , it will be a sharp!!

I like it. Love the long pulls. Depending on the handles and the steel, it could be a must have.

As pleased as I've been with the 3 Northwoods knives that I currently own (Norfolk, Fremont, & Burnside) I am really looking forward to this knife. Hopefully, the handle will include some interesting choices. Like sogflash, I'm hoping for a nice choice in wood - although this just might be the one that I would buy in pre-ban elephant ivory.

Northwoods has become my traditional knife of choice. The Northwoods designs that have come out of KSF have been great. I've got several others on my wish list. ;)

Edit:

No kidding. That happens to me, too. :D

I've bought knives from Derrick before, but never a Northwoods. This knife is definitely going to my first one. I like this knife. Reminds me of a big 73 with a nice drop point blade.

Glad you guys like it! It will be made sometime in December, I think.

The handles will be wood, camel bone, ivory, mammoth and ebony. :)

Some really nice choices there, Derrick. Going to make it tough to decide.
