440C

Anyone else interested in a skinny 440C knife. Workers or Bluegill maybe? Anything up to 1" tall is a possibility.

John, as soon as I sell this fixed blade, I'll be placing the order that we previously discussed via email.

For right now, the only size I bought is the 1", so I am planning on some small kitchen and outdoors knives.
It's doubtful I will order more of this steel, I've got enough for 7 or 8 knives, that's good, not much demand.

How do you think a Toby's knife with a Semi wharncliffe would work as a parer?

I know it is close to a semi-wharncliffe already, but it is a raked out spear tip.
Would a semi-wharncliffe have much different of a profile?

I have been trying to decide on a blade shape for a Toby's in 440C, and I love the looks of the straight back, and it is often my preferential blade shape. But I do not know if I would stick to it with a Toby's, considering I love the one Semi-wharncliffe that I have from you.

John, I'm curious to know if you have target Rockwell Hardness numbers that you're shooting for with your steels. What's your range for the 440C? O1? I'm super impressed with your O1; you clearly know how to treat it right, and I'm sure the 440C will prove just as impressive.

440C is 58, O1 is 59.
My first order for 440C was a 6' piece, which is the minimum size. I still have about 2 1/2' left. I highly doubt that I will be ordering more, the demand is not there.

Been very busy lately, but I wanted to share more pictures and some initial thoughts on my latest JK. This is the original worker with a long, pointy clip in 1/16" 440C. John nailed the look I was after with blade shape.

I wanted to try 1/8" black spacers with the tan micarta scales. This is a pretty thick grip for the size knife. It does give more to hold on to, time will tell if it's too big or not and if I need to contour the handle any more. Love the look though!

As far as the steel, this knife came sharper than any of my other JKs. Not that the stainless has that advantage, just happened to come very, very sharp! I haven't had time to use it much so far, but this is an excellent little slicer and I'm curious to see how the edge holds up compared to John's O1. I have a stretched worker in 1/16" O1 that stays in the kitchen, this one will be put to heavier use. I think it's going to handle things great!

greentrout greentrout , what is the blade length on that one? I like a four finger grip and the overall shape of it. Anyway I can see the stretched worker in 01?
