I have owned an umnumzaan before. I don't know why I let it go now and have been itching for a new quality folder. I have been looking at CRK knives again and just looking to get opinions on comparably priced knives!

If you had around $450 bucks to buy a folder, what would you get?

Best one's in that range for me would be Large Inkosi, Umnumzaan, XM18, and Olamic 247 (which would be my choice currently).

Mid-size ti flipper? Olamic 247.

Small flipper? Begg Steelcraft Mini Bodega.

Pretty integral? LionSteel TiSpine lizard damascus.

Thin, light but fairly large ti flipper with some style? CKF Ratata.

Boring but great working knife with odd name? CRK Umnumzaan.

Benchmade Vicar, get 2 of them haha
It's a lot of knife for the money and it's a fantastic platform to play with.

Otherwise, a Seb 25 or large Inkosi are pretty much a given if you like CRK aesthetics.

I like flippers so I'll stick with those below:

  • 3" flipper: Todd Begg Steelcraft Mini Bodega
  • 3.5" flipper: Zero Tolerance 0392
  • 3.5" flipper: Olamic Wayfarer 247
  • 3.9" flipper: Southard Performance Series Tolk
  • 4" flipper: Todd Begg Steelcraft Field Marshall
  • 4" flipper: Todd Begg Steelcraft Sun Tzu Kwaiken

If I didn't already have one, it'd be the Cold Steel 4-Max. My 2nd choice would be Spyderco's Nirvana.

Phil Wilson smoke creek. :D

Dang, I've been pestering him about one of these, I love my B&T from him.

I just paid a little more than $450 for a custom from Marty Young and I'm blown away by his fit and finish. Definitely recommend his work.

Other than that it's hard to go wrong with a XM-18, Strider SnG, or Sebenza. I've been back and forth between my SnG and XM-18 for the last month solid.

A few pictures for posterity's sake :D

Why not? I usually prefer frame locks

If that is your preference, then go for it. I get tired of framelocks, and would go for something a little different, if it were me. Perhaps a G & G Hawk Mudd, Cold Steel 4 Max, or maybe even a Benchmade 781. It's not my money to spend though, and you know your own preferences. Good luck and have fun!

I was just asking to get your opinion :)

I didn't put preferences because I am trying to look outside my normal box. I have been solely on traditionals for awhile now and just wanted to add a new modern knife to the rotation. I am open to all suggestions

Hinderer Eklipse Gen 2 Tanto's started hitting dealers today. I picked one up from Scott at USA Made Blade. There were seven or so this morning, only a couple left last time I looked.
