The past week has been an exciting one courtesy of two packages from the generous
Jack Black
and
sbh06
!
Shortly after finding out I'd won Jack's 5000 page giveaway, Jeremy informed me he'd be sending a slip my way. A new slip, handmade and of excellent quality, is of course always welcome, but this one is extra special to me for two reasons. The first, because Jeremy recalled from a previous conversation that I have submariners on each side of my family and added some navy dolphins to the slip. The other, because since taking my first steps as a fledgling leather worker, Jeremy has taken the time to share a wealth of knowledge gained from his years working the craft. So, not only a useful and personal keepsake, but also a tangible goal to reach towards! Thanks again, Jeremy!
The second package just arrived today from Jack - air mail from Leeds! I took a break from trimming the enormous seagrape tree in my front yard to whip out my Snakewood Albers (what better lamb for tonight's screening of the Beetlejuice remake?) and slice into the package! I revealed my first lamb wearing Bexoid covers - a Sheffield classic and more grippy in hand than I'd imagined. The stainless blade will make this one an easy choice in South Florida's (perhaps not "endless" but) very, very long (and humid) summers. Along with the lamb was a swanky Yorkshire keyring and two pins, Guardians and a Yorkshire rose, which I'll most likely pin to the side of a (Harris - The First Name in) tweed flat cap!
Thanks again, Guardians! I'm honored to have these incredible pieces commemorating such a momentous milestone!
