501 Goodfella

Return windows can vary but I would say most receipts I can recall looking at and noticing the return policy time frame are stated as 14 days and up to 30 days. I know that there can also be a law that might conflict with the generic return policy printed on a receipt and that could trump what is written on a receipt as well.

Customs, I'm guessing that includes SFOs (since they are custom runs), are marked with the anvil only - no date or model code.

As far as the sales - these special runs are a significant financial commitment; and the ideal is to hype them & get them sold quickly. When that doesn't happen, it's money tied up; so after a while, especially when there are other orders pending, it makes sense to reduce the profit margin to get that money back in play.

Nailed it! What I wish though, is not to have to hype, but rather release something that people can't live without. We've done it a few times. Might be getting my hands on some blue micarta that might do the trick!

Paying the initial price is much better than missing out on a knife you really want. Not like anyone has been price gouging. If people don't like what sk or anyone else charges for these knives they can skip buying them or pony up the cash for an order big enough that Buck will make what they want. People forget the risk is on the guys like SK, DLT, etc. Coming up with the cash to buy an order of knives that they might sell or might sit on for awhile. I'll gladly pay the normal price vs. buying a few hundred of them.

We 100% try to price the knife at a reasonable spot, no matter what. Our philosophy is: standard Buck knives, taken up a notch, at an affordable price. I'm legitimately excited about our stuff, and I want people to be excited and enjoy it as well. I appreciate this comment!

Well, let's face it.

It's ONLY 20 percent.

That's not a big deal to the confirmed Knife Knut.........they spend like sailors and just can't wait to get their wallet out to get the next treasure.

:)

Well I got a Goodfella earlier this year and now I bought one in this week’s blowout. The first one was at a very good price considering the upgrade materials and it’s a great little knife !!! When I saw the email Steve sent out with a reduced price I couldn’t resist getting another one. And maybe that will help get some cash flow so he can buy some more knives.
I’ve been holding off waiting for the 301 but now it’s going to be into 2020 before the build. So with Christmas just two months away I need to go look at a couple more on SK site. I don’t think you can beat the price on upgrade blades and materials or the quality on the knives he has.

Remember when threads were about discussion and not trolling? I do.
Some people have a condition known as opti-crapations. That’s when they get a crappy outlook on life and want everyone else to suffer the same affliction. Just use the ignorant button, err the ignore button I meant to say. Lol and you won’t see their insults, bragging or the obnoxious comments anymore. Lol

SK had Buck make the Lil'Jack in D2..for which I'm really grateful! And it's still the only 112 ever made in that steel. I was lucky enough to get two and kossex turned one into a absolutely beautiful Custom! My dilemma is to keep the other one as issued, because it IS a rare odd 112, or make it into another Custom..I admire SK as a company because of the way we get to vote and have imput into the design of the Bucks they create and because Stephen limits the number of the run making them more collectable. As far as giving us a great sale price and discount..LOVE IT!!! Also I really like the 'Boneyard' and check it every time I go to the website. I'm just hoping that another 112 might be in the long term plans..Nickel silver frame, drop point super steel and any kind of handle material at all!!...Edit: Lil'Jack second from the left.20190606_110920.jpg

The hype is part of it, no matter how awesome the knife. You've got to get the word out, get people talking - and excited - about it. It's a finite quantity; but, still, to blow them out quickly, you've got to build the buzz. I'm not saying anything you don't know, SK - just pointing out that it takes time and effort (in addition to money) to to make these special runs a success.

If my remarks came off overly negative. I apologize. I was having trouble articulating my thoughts.

Someone at Sk blades has great taste in knives. Which gives us opportunity to buy things that might never get made otherwise.

I see both sides of the issue. If this pattern continues more people will wait for the flash sales which means fewer will sell at the premium. Which will make the problem of slow moving items worse and worse.

Thanks SKBlades for these great opportunities. Polish up that crystal ball and pick a real winner!

I for 1 would buy any Buck knife with the matching burlap Micarta. I like putting together sets.

Wouldn't it be lovely if us sellers had a crystal ball before we made an ordering mistake? Would give an arm for that crystal ball.....
I know it's an investment and it needs to sell, but man you put out great knives for us and enough for everyone. There is nothing worse than missing out on something you really want. I have no problem with your prices, thank you for all you do!

Good thing I'm willing to take the risk. ;)

Yes, it is. It's good for everybody.

I certainly am not criticizing your efforts.

I wish you the best of luck.

It may be that the economy is slowing down and there's less expendable income now.

Your crystal ball has to keep that in mind.
