I voted Canvas Micarta. It was a toss-up for me between the Canvas and Linen Micarta. The Burlap was a distant 3rd...

I love my Burlap 501 but for this I am feeling Canvas is better suited to this knife like others said Burlap is just a bit too plastic feeling as which point why not just do G10 besides the obvious beauty of the Burlap.

I see this knife with canvas micarta. Nothing wrong with the others, but I intend to use this one and the canvas seems more natural on a working knife.

Guess I'm a little confused (nothing new - lol) and I'm considering changing my vote. Am I correct that you both feel that Burlap is more porous than Canvas and exposes more surface area resin which makes it more "slippy" when wet than Canvas? Is that correct? But wouldn't that "rougher" texture mean more grip when grimy or muddy? Kinda like the difference between a mud tire and a street tire. Just looking for info.

Burlap would most definitely be "slippery" in comparison. Feels like a hard plastic. Looks awesome though!

You know... I always felt my small folder with burlap micarta felt pretty tacky when it got "wet" with hand sweat. It's never been properly wet like I'm sure this knife will get though... That has me questioning my decision a bit.

I'll be happy with whatever gets chosen between burlap and canvas I think.

There is really not a huge difference between these in terms of usability. I think this decision is more of a personal preference kind of thing. I'll be happy with whatever is chosen.

Thinking a nice burgundy Canvas micarta handle would be SWEET..:D I will pass on the Burlap.. Have a few and really not my favorite..

For those of you who chose burlap micarta, you should check out this thread and re-think your decision (unless you like little voids in your micarta).

Burlap and denim are poor choices for a micarta base material due to the loose weave; linen and canvas much denser and less air pockets; more base material and less epoxy filler.

I expect that any Denim or Burlap Buck is using has been done well and would have very few if any voids but the reasons that they can have all those voids are why they do tend to be more slick feeling as there is a much great amount of resin. The resin will feel slick and can add a beautiful glossy look it also doesn't help the grip so for me I want a little more grip than beauty in this knife. I know that Canvas and Linen will be plenty beautiful just won't have the glossy look. There is no wrong choice here just know what you are voting for. I know some people here have mentioned they want a matching set 501, 110, and 104 and if thats the goal/idea you like then by all means vote for it.

Maybe polishing the burlap Micarta overheats the surface if gotten too too hot. Mine don't have these pits in the surface.

Maybe Stephen from SK who has seen hundreds can chime in and see if any have showed up, or Jeff H if he has seen any come back to Buck.

I have my 501 on my today and I can't see any voids but the material is definitely slicker than other micarta materials I have used which has been Canvas or Linen.

neck in neck now between burlap and canvas. I really prefer the feel of linen myself but like both. surprised burlap lost its momentum.......
