Well, looks like the 710D2 model is being discontinued.

I have to say I never saw that coming. Exceptional knife on so many levels. One of BM's all time greats!

Over the years, as long as I had my AFCK I didn't mind selling or trading a 710D2 model. Sold, traded, or gifted several. Guess I never imagined a time when it wouldn't be readily available.

The 710D2 is an awesome knife that's truly stood the test of time. I can only hope something really extraordinary is being released to replace it.

I can not believe it. Glad that I have two 710HS on the shelf and one abused one in my pocket.
Still I don't believe it will be discontinued. Perhaps yust a steel upgrade and a decent backspacer (that one was crappy).

I have a 710HS, 710D2, 710-1, and a 710 in ATS-34. I've owned more, none of them ever had trouble selling. Great can't be artfully described, I hope what comes as a replacement will live up to this one model in all of it's variations.

I just found the information on knifeworks.com. They are selling them at a discount price.

The Rift, the Shori, the Loco and the Mini Barrage are discontinued too

Those 710HS's are rare gem's! Hope I can score one someday.

I still have one 710D2, a now rare 710BKD2 (They discontinued the coated plain edge back in 2005) and of course a 710-1401 M390 KW Exclusive.

Such fantastic knives, truly exceptional! If able I might try and grab another 710D2 while I still can.

Never expected that!!
I have a 710-2 and a 710-1401 that I treasure!!
Gonna grab another to beat on a little!! Really don't want to beat up on the 2 I have!

The 705 is nice too. I just have the plain G10 version and one with a damasteel blade.

Love that 705!! Like the 586, for a smaller blade, it fills your hand nicely! I found that one ad The Hollow Grind! New old stock! Score!!
Surprised that one was discoed also.

Here's an older photo of my favorite 710 grouping. Not much beats these, and they sure lived a long annual offering!

Don't blame you, sweet knives indeed!

Appreciate that brother!! The 710-1401 with Sketchen scales was a gift from my sons! They had KW engrave their initials on the blade. Not beating on it!!
The 710-2 was bought from Painstakingly Meticulous, Jo, here on the forum.

Nice group Joe!

Meant to add, lot of BM history there.

That 710-1401 is really special no doubt. I remember when you first posted it. Great son's to give dad a gift like that!

Hope it's just a steel upgrade.
If it's discontinued they should do a limited run for the 20th anniversary of the model which would be 2018 I believe.

Here we go again, Benchmade discontinuing another great knife and a bunch of us here just shaking our heads and wondering why. Dwindling sales, I suppose, and a lack of cost-effectiveness to continue making them. The trends in the knife-market shift, the newer buyers looking for knives with bearings, flippers, whatever, and the old classics sit on the shelves and dealers consequently don't re-order. It could well be that there are so many out there that secondary market sales overwhelm the market for new knives.

Anyway, I've been buying plenty of knives in the newer styles, but will always have room for the old-school benchmades. Here's my 710s and 705s--

Truly special boys!! The knife is one of those that when I pick it up I immediately remember the day they gave it to me!

I have absolutely no basis for this, but I wonder if they won't DC the 710 in D2 and reintroduce it in a new steel.

Awesome group Steve!!!
I'll tell ya, I have a bunch of the bearing & flipper folders........and they have nothing on the 710 or the others they are discontinuing.
I agree about dwindling sales being the reason for discoing. Can't think of any other reason.
I was really surprised about the 710 & the 586. The 586 is one of the best smaller knives I have.
Also can't believe the 705 didn't last very long. Another excellent smaller knife.
I guess, like Steve said.....flavor of the week hurts the classics.
Surprised about this one also. This is one of my favorite W Osbourne's!!
