They have all been very popular up to this point. So what blade setup should be made in 2016?

Mike! I can't adequately express how happy I've been with the two 77 Barlows I have, so to see another run proposed is music to my ears. I'll have to mull this over but count me in for one when the time comes.

Looking forward to a new round of 77s, when are these expected to hit in 2016?

The first to options that come to mind is a pinch able clip blade along lines of 25th anniv Tc barlow with a coping secondary. I feel like GEC has given me my fill of spears lately and no clips.

For scales polished stag and for bone I like jigging similar to a case swayback jack with those sharper deep scoops in it.

One of my favourite knife blades you've used/of all time was the Clip with a crisp crescent nail nick on this 2 blade wharncliffle/clip. The deep nail nick gave me more leverage and an easier time opening versus the long pull clips you've had made in the past which aids me since I'm a younger guy but with rheumatoid arthritis and those fingers don't work too well in the morning :D

I'd love to see a run using this clip and a pen secondary behind the main for the 2 blade.

As for cover materials..I'd like to see more sawcut utilised in different shades and colours this time around. I'd like to see the resurgence of frontier bone, polished stag, maybe jigged micarta (would love to see one this done), jigged bone, etc.

Stag , Pioneer Bone , Old Red Sawcut , and Amboyna Wood handles.
Main blade choices of , Drop Point , Spear , Sabre Ground Spear , and Sheepsfoot.
Secondary blade choices of , small pen , small coping , or small spey

It really does not matter that much Mike . I am in for 3 to 4 anyway.
It would be nice if they can come around Fathers Day.

Clip and coping would be amazing. I too have had my fair share of the spear blades lately.

I'm extremely excited to see how the next version turns out. My smooth ivory bone spear/ coping is among my most carried knives.

One arm razor blade would be cool as well. I also second Tim on the nice deep nail nick over the long pull.

I agree. My barlow with a spey blade (long pull) is such a useful and handy knife. It is absolutely nonthreatening to see, and it has a certain elegance that my spear points don't. But I do love the two spear points on the Northfield barlows I have.
Spey blade!

Whatever you choose, please have GEC make the bolsters out of steel.

Several have already said it, but I'd also love to see a clip Barlow. I have one from the earlier batch, but it's not pinch-able. Perhaps a clip without the swedges, so we coud pinch it open (like TC Barlows without swedges). The 2-blade version, then, could have a coping secondary.

I love sawcut, so I would not mind seeing that used, BUT.....I think what we are really missing on the #77 barlow is JIGGED BONE.
The jigging on the Case below would be great. But what I would really love to see is:

--Horse cut jigging in a very dark brown (picture courtesy of Ryouchijtx).
--A more refined red jigging
--Some micarta (everyone enjoyed the micarta so much on the last batch, it would be great to see it again....maybe something out of left field...like turquoise.

(thank you for asking our input, Mike!)

Mike, each of the 77 runs have been great and I'm looking forward to the next design.
Old engineer's suggestion of a drop point sounds good only please have some made with a Tidioute style single blade. Place a deep nail nick out near the blade's end for opening leverage. Cover with Amboyna, Ironwood or other highly figured wood and you have something unique from previous runs, functional and hopefully good looking.

Blades
2Blade Clip (crescent or long pull), pen
1Blade Clip (crescent or long pull)

Handles
Smooth Yellow Rose Bone (with Yellow Rose shield)
Antique Yellow Jig Bone
Primitive Bone
Stag

With:
Nickel silver bolsters
Brass liners
Brass pins

Mike, I really do appreciate all of your time effort and in put. The 77 are my favorite. I stated already in the other thread but I'll do it again. Single clip with taller spine like the 15 so it's pinchable. Even the 15 s with a long pull have a swedge but are pinchable because the stick up higher in the frame. Even with a heavy spring like the 54 a swedge clip is pinchable because it has some surface area to grab ahold of.

Pinchable clip single
Pinchable clip plus coping behind the main
All steel or all nickel silver
Stag, curly Koa, walnut,
Smooth Appaloosa or smooth white or smooth calico bone please
I'd be in for multiples.

Sheep foots are great too. I prefer long pulls for looks. If it's pinchable I never use it anyway, I simply think they're more pleasing to the eye. To be honest, if it's a pinchable clip Could go nick or pull, but prefer a long pull.
