#77 Barlow 2016 - What configuration would you like?

I'm liking the suggestions of a cap-lifter as a secondary blade. If not a cap-lifter then a coping secondary. In either case put the secondary BEHIND the primary.

As a primary blade I do like the more sleek/lower profile clip rather than the one with the high spine seen in some GEC's. I prefer a swedge on any blade as it looks great and feels better in pocket. The deep nail nick is also a good idea. The pull I prefer is around 6-7 (the same as the most recent spear 77's).

Scales? Definitely include African Blackwood. Sawcut bone is a must, perhaps in a tan or light brown, but you can never go wrong with red sawcut. An EO notch I can take it or leave it.

Clip blade with a Nail Nick with a drawn swedge behind a stockman sized sheep's foot with a long pull. Natural canvas please and thank you :D

Clip main, coping or a small wharncliffe secondary.
Steel bolsters.
I'd like to see some micarta in a different color (OD Green, Blue, etc).

I'd say all steel, saw cut oiled white bone, long pull clips, long pull spears, long pull sheeps single blades. Same options for the 2 blades, with coping secondaries, pens for the sheeps.

I heard some people say drop point and I'll jump on that wagon! We've had clips, sheeps, wharnies and spears already. A really nice drop point, nail nick out toward the tip, in some different handle materials than the last years would be awesome. How about some worm groove bone, some different woods like Koa or Walnut, and maybe some jigged canvas micarta. All steel construction.

Drop point like some of the early 25's. Cap lifter for the secondary. Snakewood or smooth rams horn handle material. Also an easy open with No nail Nick or long pull, kind of like some of the early 56 Weaver single blades

Thought some more about it.

-All Steel
-Pinch able Clip Primary
-Drop Point Primary does sound nice since it hasn't been done.
-Coping/Lambsfoot Secondary

Scales

-rust red sawcut
-polished stag
-BARBED WIRE MICARTA LOOKS REALLY NICE!
-case chesnut bone with jigging similar to swayback jack with some sharp scoops
-case old red bone with the same scooped jigging
-od canvas micarta
-walnut

For the clip I was thinking of a blade shape like this one. I can still pinch this pretty easy even with the spey in the way.

Clip main with steel bolsters for this batch would be my pick. I think a small wharncliffe secondary would be interesting also. Saw cut antique amber bone.

Maybe even sneak a cap lifter in on some

Sheepfoot with long pull no swedge, steel bolsters, cap lifter secondary, steel pins, brass liners. Buffalo horn, Marrow bone, would be my ideal '16 NF Barlow..

One of my favourite knife blades you've used/of all time was the Clip with a crisp crescent nail nick on this 2 blade wharncliffle/clip. The deep nail nick gave me more leverage and an easier time opening versus the long pull clips you've had made in the past which aids me since I'm a younger guy but with rheumatoid arthritis and those fingers don't work too well in the morning :D

Really liking the look of this version.
I also like Red Bone, Jigged or Sawcut Bone in nice colors, and figured wood (Snakewood).

Oh Boy!!!

- Clip with long pull
- pen or coping secondary
- smooth yellow bone - preferably rotten banana bone
- all steel

and once I have this one....coupled with one more Red Sox World Series Championship.....I'm good to go!

Thanks Mike,
Peter

Clip main blade, coping secondary or none at all. Like some others mentioned, I too would like to see smooth yellow and appaloosa bone. Saw cut is fine too in brown or yellow tones.

I'm not opposed to the idea of a drop point, but something to consider for those who prefer to "pinch open": a drop point would likely be the least "pinchable" of all blade profiles. Now this doesn't apply to me as I can pinch all of 'em open... old man strength  :D ... but something to think about.

good point. I am all hung up these days on pinchability! I hate it when it feels like you are going to rip off a nail like it did last night opening the caplifter on the gun scout.

I would like to see a Clip and Pen and a 1 blade Clip.
As other mentioned, more sawcut in different colors and also green/maroon micarta.

Whatever the combo the knife will look excellent.

But as this is a kind of DIP (Dream In Progress) type of thread, is anybody attracted to a single Sabre Clip or Spear?? Drop-point is interesting but as Merry MadMonk points out, they lay low in the frame so might not suit the pinchback brigade too much.

As I've said before, I'd love an Ivory Sawn Bone, or Scratted Ivory Bone or jigged Ivory. Something different but still within the parameters of known Traditional. If a diffeent wood were offered, some stripey Zebra makes for a very beautiful and different knife, I don't know if zebra has become scarce as Queen dropped it a couple of years back, more's the pity.

A Peach Seed jig would always be welcome.

Thanks, Will

Clip point with Long drawn swedge and nail nick.
Green jigged bone (like the green glass bone on the #47s)
and green sawcut. yeah green sawcut! Has GEC ever done Green sawcut?
All steel construction. No etch of course.

I am virtually throwing my money at you right now.

Loving all these suggestions. Ivory sawcut? Ivory jigged bone? Sounds amazing. Unequivocally traditional, but classy and heretofore unseen (by me at least).

I would like the Warnecliffe and clip point two blade to return.

Sheep foot single blade.

Sheep foot and pen secondary.

Keep the all steel construction from the 2015 spear point run.
