#77 Barlow 2016 - What configuration would you like?

I have a green sawcut reserved, and based upon the latest pic it should be interesting. I was expecting (and kind-of hoping for) a somewhat muted forest or olive green, but it looks like it will be more neon in appearance:

I'm with ya there, but these may look neat if they have a nice contrast of bright and darker tones.

The clip points look good!

It's the insides of the covers that look neon. The outsides do not. That's how it looks to me, at least.

That's only before they're attached to the knives and shaped. That brighter green color will come out on the edges and towards the bolster once that knives are finished. For example, look at these dark pre-finished slabs from the recent run of #72's in Grizzly Cut Bone compared to the finished product.

Mike from CK stated a while back in this thread that this photoshopped mockup was what he sent GEC as a guide, so I don't think these were ever going to come out muted. :D

That was the picture from this thread that many liked; thus that is what I gave GEC. They may be a bit lighter than that; but you can't compare it to the grizzly as sawcut patterns prohibit any significant buffing of the texture itself - only bringing the slab level to the bolster. Thus most stock removal has to happen on the backside.

I think they're going to look great, Mike. I used the Grizzly Bone as an example because it was the only thing I could find with in-progress photos still up on GEC's site that I could compare with a finished knife. I think it's at least somewhat similar where material is removed around the bolster and edges, although as you say, it's not exactly an apples to apples comparison. Just tried to use it as an example of how the raw dyed slabs don't necessarily indicate the final look.

I believe that this picture might answer that question for you. Very excited about this run of 77's.

This has me very excited. That's a gorgeous blade with the long matchstriker! I've been itching for a Barlow lately, missing a couple good opportunities on the exchange, but reminding myself that I'm in for all 4 of the 77s.

Here's the Bone Linen Micarta (gonna rock):

I think the green is going to look great. They're only green on one side right now because they havent been sanded down to cover size. I'm pretty sure they'll turn out like that Photoshop mockup, which excites me because I wanted the Evergreen Pick Bone on the New Day Barlows to be much lighter than it was.

I really like the green sawcut and the new clip point looks great too. My collection is mostly different browns so the green sawcut will be a nice change.

I believe the material for these is now bone CANVAS micarta.....but, yeah, it's STILL gonna rock!

I've got green sawcut on order--and am loving the way it looks so far. Very distinct! I plan to have this one live in my pocket, permanent resident.

first time seeing the in work green sawcut photo... and i love it! cant wait to see the final result

Those greens are going to be great! Really excited for the bright color showing through.

With the toxic green color, added height of the clip blade (increased sharpening life), and the ability to light matches on the long pull I believe we have GEC's first foray into the Zombie Survival Knife market.

They wanted to wait a few years to make sure the Zombie Apocalypse was really coming before releasing their first survival knife. They're cutting it close with only 57 days remaining...

No politics in Traditional. One post removed.

...and enough with the zombie comments.

Those blades are just amazing! The perfect clip profile!
I love the bolsters with the scale still on them...
