#77 Barlow 2016 - What configuration would you like?

Well, I know this pic isn't to do with the forthcoming version, but I was so pleased with the one I was lucky enough to get last year (thanks due to Brett via Mike!) that I hope it provides inspiration for those waiting on the new one. It has everything I like about a Barlow and I have to admit that I'm not a zealot of the pattern... First rate proportions, first class execution (flush in three!) great balance and gravitas. 4 pins is always better on a knife too..

Reserved a copperhead saw cut. If I designed my dream Barlow myself, this would be it! Really liking the match striker long pull too. I have loved this pattern since I read Tom Sawyer as a kid.
“Mary gave him a bran-new “Barlow” knife worth twelve and a half cents; it was a “sure-enough” Barlow, and there was inconceivable grandeur in that

Ugh, how did I completely miss this!!! Busy busy busy I guess:o I will keep an eye open in the for sale forum later on. I have purchased/traded for many knives lately so the sting of missing out is not so bad:D

Tried to send you a PM but your box is full

100% Agree with you. Nice touch with quote.

First time for me to manage to get in on a Barlow. I'm confused as to why my email notification says 'GEC 771216', which should mean a two blade. It'll still be nice, my first NF Barlow, but did anyone else see it listed differently at first?

Mis-print - was quickly corrected. No 2bladers in this run. When they limit production that would have just left very small runs of each and only been fodder for more talk about how impossible it is to get on the list for something. No current plans for 2blade models, but I can now start worrying about the next run...

Heck, just add a pen blade to the forthcoming version and BAM! Next run done!

Mike, thanks for making these awesome barlows!

Thanks, Mike. I figured it was something like that, but just wanted to check.

Next question: Are they done yet? When will they be done? Are we there yet? :D

These will be my first taste of the almighty barlow as well.

Im excited to see what all the fuss is about. :D

I've carried this pattern on and off since I was a kid. I've always found it to be good looking, comfortable in hand, rugged, simple yet functional, and very pocket friendly. Just a timeless design! I think you'll really enjoy carrying it.

:) thanks for putting this together Mike!

I will say that for the size of the 77 Barlows (which is perfect BTW) I tend to like the single blade better than the double. Don't get me wrong: Mike's double blade Barlow with that awesome long coping blade is perfect to grab when whittling or going camping but there single blade is so nice and slim when you plan to carry your knife more than use it.

Either way: the 77 frame makes for a most excellent Barlow!

I have to agree with Macchina. The 77 frame is my favorite, and the perfect size for EDC. I have two Yankee Jacks, one in Osage orange that is my "dress blade", and one in Sunbrite acrylic that's been living in my pocket since they were made available. The 77 Barlow is going to be just perfect! Kudos to Mike for such a timeless, practical design!

I'd love to see a single spear model with sawcut bone!

I hope the green sawcut is a more muted olive green similar to last year's Tidioute version of the #38 Grinling whittler. (Not a big fan of the bright green in the photoshopped mockup above.)

I'm guessing many agree with you. I also hope the red is a deep dark red like the #14 sawcut black cherry... I doubt it will be that dark, but would be nice.

Bad news for your hopes! The mockup was what I gave GEC as a sample....

I'd love to see a single spear model with sawcut bone!

Been done, might check secondary markets.

Mr. Latham, this "new pinch-able clip point" - what is new? Is it more akin to the shape of the clip point that we see on 15s? Seems like that blade has a bit different shape/profile than what I've seen on the previous clip point 77s, but all 77s I've handled so far have been pinch-able.

Anybody else notice on the GEC production schedule that these are listed after the #72s which are currently in production? I know that could always change, but seems like they're coming soon!
