#78 American Jack

My Yankee Whittler came this week, and it's beautiful in every way!

I have a dial caliper here at my computer desk and just measured it right in the middle of the frame: 0.64" thick. I've had many stag knives thicker than this, and even a few 2-blade bone knives. It's thick, but not terribly so.

I have a Case saddlehorn in my pocket right now and just measured it @ 0.58" thick, and it's a 3½" 2-blade knife that's only a sixteenth inch slimmer.

What a truly exemplary gift!

GEC did a great job this time around and I'm not sure what they did this time but they got each blade shaving sharp. Normally mine aren't like that. But beautiful job on this one. Love the spear and clip blades. Beautiful. A knife like this deserves to be displayed.

I do not think it's too thick to carry. I'm just not going to carry this one because I only have one. It's all preference.

Thanks, I have a single blade on pre-order, but have been eyeing the M&G 3 blade models and may have to buy 1 to carry.

I will add that my Yankee Whittler has the most consistent pulls of any 3-blade knife I can think of. Maybe because each has its own spring, but all three blades have an even, smooth and snappy 6 pull, with solid half-stops. All the pins are nicely domed, and either flush with or slightly proud of the bone covers, which I think is perfect. All in all, one of the best built factory folders I've had the pleasure of handling.

Excellent Cocobolo they used on the M&G's.!!

Cool TheFactor TheFactor !! A black canvas micarta is scheduled to be delivered here today. I feel just like a kid the day after Christmas!!! o_O;):)

It should look something like this ...

... except it will be an American Jack... and it will be canvas micarta not linen micarta...
Oh yeah, it'll have a spear blade not the zulu blade shown here. Of course it'll be a Northfield not a Northwoods... and some other stuff might be different ...
Hummmmm ... maybe it won't be anything like this ... never mind.:oops:;):)

In the thread about smooth bone, there is talk about how white smooth bone handles will age and look like ivory. This one looks like Vintage Ivory right out of the box.
Wow are these covers pretty. The rest of the knife is fantastic but the covers are gorgeous. Hard to capture in a photo, but here is my try.

Nice job! I think you did well on every single one of them!

My Cocobolo and Smooth white bone have arrived . Fresh out of the tube so excuse the factory oil . Thought for sure the smooth white bone was going to be my favorite and to be honest was looking forward to it the most . I really like it but this cocobolo has wowed me with so much character that the pictures don’t even come close to capturing “maybe some day light pictures would help”
Anyway love them both but my Cocobolo might be the Tube Queen with her factory oil and all lol .
Great fit and finish on both but the Cocobolo gets the nod on that to if your going to split hairs .Walk and talk a slight edge to the smooth white bone but again it’s close .
So looks like my white bone will be riding in my pocket tomorrow  which ain’t no slouch and couldn’t be happier with both!
