891 ground combat

When buck does 5160 it phenomenal. No questions asked. I definitely have a place in my tool box for both blade shapes, tanto for work and spear point for my own time. That being said the sheaths are huge. I handled both at my local gun store and the sheaths killed it for me. I know I could have sheaths made, but that's just more money spent.

This does look like a great knife.
It looks solid and 5160 is an excellent choice of steel.

I have never tried Bucks 5160 but I have an Ontario knife with it and it works well.
I’m sure Buck will cook up this steel well.

The sheath looks a little clunky but I am sure it is at least as serviceable as Ontario’s which are a bit of a horror show but they will work with slight modifications.

I havent tried but I'd bet ya can take the kydex sheath off the molle part and attach a tek lok or other kydex belt attachment. still more money but maybe easy to customize, much cheaper.

the kydex part is much smaller than the entire rig. I just prefer leather, that's why I'm gonna have Makael Makael make me one. :) once he has one to model off of, that is.

I believe the reason they are calling it a spear point is that it's double edged, whereas a drop point isn't.....

A quick google - From a Buck announcement there are two versions of this knife - "891 GCK Spear Point and the 893 GCK Tanto are available in tricolored canvas Micarta or black G10 handles". The Spear Point and the Tanto give you the option of two different colored blades/handles for each version.

From what I could read online there is no version of the GCK that is double edged.

The Spear Point version is double edged ? It does not look this way in the pictures.

sassafrasdog3 is saying ground double side. not sharpened. false top edge sort of......how its ground down to be thin from the middle towards the spine as well as the edge side. as ya see in the pics.
