#9 Esquire

I received my two esquires last week. My Wife asked me where her's was.
This is the Krytonite Esquire for her watch pocket.

My Blue Abalone arrived yesterday but my pics are all blurry :grumpy: but since the MOPs should come soon, I'll just update the pics when that arrives. I have it on good authority that these (MOP) took longer to put together because Bill was the one putting them all together because of the handle material. Which is really cool in my book!!

Trand,
I heard the same thing. Hoping for some fiery pearl in these even though the GEC pic doesn't show any. MOP is tough to photograph so you can never tell. Hoping for the best.

My Mother of Pearl Esquire arrived today. Bill Howard, THANK YOU FOR YOUR CRAFTSMANSHIP.
It is a fine example of the skills of Great Eastern Cutlery.

My abalone arrived today, I was pretty impressed. Awesome coloring along with excellent F&F. I also found the scalloping looked much better in person.

How is the coloring on your pearl, Tim?

rockgolfer,
Thank You for Your compliments.

Jamie,
I am glad that you are happy with your Esquire. The Abalone turned out AWESOME. I think that all of the scale variations are equally NEAT.
I had a hard time time taking photos of the M.O.P. with indoor lighting. With low to medium light it has a nice iridescence with some pink and green tones.
Tommorrow I will take a photo outdoors. I was fortunate to be at the factory the day the M.O.P. arrived and Christine was kind enough to show
the box of scale material to me. I placed my order right there.

That ivory looks amazing! I love my ivory version. It had a noticeable scratch on main blade so it is currently w GEC for repair. Cannot wait to have her back!

Beautiful photography, Chief. Nice knife, too! I wish I had found one of those ivory sweethearts in time.

Since I'm taking a second look at the Esquire I figured I'd ask how current owners are liking the pattern?

As G.E.C. started to place photos of the Esquire in progress I didn't think I would like it much.
The Esquire is a small but NEAT Knife, I like mine ALOT. :) The color variations are TERRIFIC.
I sometimes carry a larger folder in a sheath on pocket with this one in my watch pocket.
Just remember to take it out before doing laundry.

Here is a size comparison shot with the GEC 09 between a vintage manicure pen knife and the GEC 53 stock knife.

The 09 is not quite as diminutive as it could be.

It's so small that, ironically, I will slip it into a leather pouch or something before I put it in my pocket just so I can be sure it's in there. But it's a great little guy and seems to be a complement magnet, as most people will show interest rather than knee-jerk fear with such a small and pretty thing. Same goes for most traditional knives under a certain length I think.

Barry, that is an awesome comparison shot! Just goes to show how standards of size have changed over time. I have ancestors' pocket knives and the biggest one, owned by a lifelong carpenter, was a wee 3 1/8" Camillus stockman.

I didn't really think I would like it at first either due to the size. I snagged one for a great price on the exchange and when it arrived, I immediately ordered another one. It has been in my watch pocket for the last week or so and I don't see that changing any time soon.
