#9 Esquire

Can you deny that this looks fantastic scalloped bolster haters?

People shy away from the abalone because GEC labels it LVS (laminate veneer sheet) Abalone, which sounds a lot like the Looking Glass configuration. Case learned 15 years ago to just call it Genuine Abalone instead of LVS. In my opinion, this is the snazziest handle material available when going for that elegant look; I like it better than all but the top 5% of pearl slabs.

This snakewood might should have been called cheetah, but it looks rather nice as well I thought.

That's a fine looking knife! Not my bag but very fine:)

Kudos to GEC for making more moves to lose their (perhaps unfair) rep for making chunky knives. I'll bet that feels far from chunky in the hand:)

My Tidioutes came in today after having a week tour of the city... I like these a lot, they're very small an slender. I do think the #33 serves my purposes a little bit better though but I like the handle options on the #09s. Like MOP, the white pearl isn't easy to photograph although the grey pearl looks good, kinda like black lip pearl.

I'm real close to pulling the trigger on this one, but I'm dying to see some peanut comparison shots. Can anyone oblige? especially helpful would be some comparison shots of the "master" blades. Thanks in advance!

GEC #33, Case Peanut, GEC #09, Queen #21, GEC #25. The peanut's blade is longer than the #09 but the handle is thicker and slightly shorter. The Queen #21's blade is longer than the #09 and has a thinner and longer body. The Queen is also 420HC.

Very helpful pix Trand, thank you.

I still think the Conductor is THE small knife for me, a nicely used version you show there.

Regards, Will

Thanks Trand! Those pics definitely give me some perspective. Though the last page or so of this thread has me wanting a conductor now!

To my eye, the Esquire with elephant ivory looks great. The white scales go well with the coined bolsters and liners.

I have to agree w habitant that the ivory is my favorite w the coined liners. Would've pulled the trigger already if it wasn't for the price but sure is beautiful.

I really want one of these badly. I'm 50/50 on the coined liners and bolsters. I think it looks best with the stag and calico bone. But I also like the jigged bone and corduroy acrylic on the Tidioutes. Buying more than one is not an option right now. Lastly Trands awesome pics remind me that I already have what is quite possibly the best little big knife out there.

Here is some stag by way of Mike (all three of them are, in fact.) I really like the coping as a secondary and the size on the 09 is great for unobtrusive carry.

Your two #33 conductors are among my favorite knives shown on the forum, every time you post them I find myself seeking out a stag conductor, your #09 looks very nice also:thumbup::thumbup:

Yes, lot of character on those three Stag knives, that's what makes it such compelling stuff. I have Stag Conductor too, but it is a Cyclop's Works stainless one, no bail either.
