I've always been interested in picking up a 940. This Knifeworks exclusive with blue and black G10 and CPM 20CV would be a nice addition to the other BM exclusives but the price is on par with the CF S90V model. I know that with the super steels that edge retention is too close for me to notice any significant difference but I have noticed that my M4 models and M390 models seem to chew through material better than lesser steels. Any thoughts on value between the models and blade steels would be appreciated. I have never tried anything with S90V and the carbon fiber does look nice with that model.

The Benchmade 940-1501 Osborne, 3.4 in CPM-20CV Stainless Steel, Black and Blue G-10, Knifeworks Exclusive is currently priced too high at $260 considering you can get the S90V/CF for about the same price. I'll wait a few months into next year for a price drop.

Agreed

i got so excited when i saw 20cv because i thought we were talking about the 950. then i said, wait, who has one in s90v? oh, the 940....

Agreed. G10 and 20CV vs CF and s90v.

No contest. Especially considering the Black and Blue 710/810s in M390 are cheaper.

The 940 being my favorite BM.....I was jacked for this one!! Then saw the price......G10??? $260?? I think not.
~ $200 seems more like it.
I got the KW exclusive 710 for $169.....M390 and G10. Much more reasonable. Great knife!

To be fair, it's listed at $221currently.

I just checked that. Very decent of them to bring the price down on an exclusive to be able to give their customers the lowest price possible.

I hope other dealers who are getting exclusives consider doing the same when they can.

Much better at $221.00!

"Knifeworks is now changing to MAP pricing on the exclusive 940-1501 to $221.00.

Knifeworks has always worked to provide Benchmade knives to it's customers at the lowest price available.

Knifeworks looks forward to continuing being your preferred source for Benchmade and all other cutlery needs

Any orders placed for this item before the price changed will be refunded."

If the history of the M390 710 and 810 are any indication just wait awhile and the price will come down..bought the 810 last year for $169 shipped when they were on sale for Christmas from KW.

Good point. That's what I should've done for both of those from last year. Another advantage in waiting is that if there are issues with the first batch they may get fixed in subsequent batches. For instance, my 810-1401 had blade centering issues which I fixed but heard that subsequent batches were fixed. The 710-1401 had the tip extending too far and non-symmetrical swedge which later got fixed.

Now that is classy. Damn you Knifeworks! Now I feel that I must re-schedule my planned knife acquisitions and squirrel away for this version of my favorite blade!

^^ +1

Talking with the crew at Knifeworks is always one of the highlights of Blade.

The standard 940 is one of my most used knives in my rotation. If I had the funds, I would love to own this version!

Well, I just sold a blade for two hundred, but it doesn't look like I'll be holding that cash for long. That blue-black G10 looks real sweet and with the CPM20CV, Roger's price drop is way too tempting. I've got the 940-1 CF in S90V and a 943 S30V blade in a 940-1 CF handle and those Osbornes are EDC favorites. I bought my 710-1401 from KW later in the production run and avoided any of the early-model issues, but don't know if I can make myself wait for this one….
