940-1501 Knifeworks Exclusive

The more I think about it I will wait and see if the price comes down after some time. I am more of a fan of G10 than Carbon Fiber. I'll wait for a hopeful Thanksgiving sale, if it goes below $200 I'll give in.

I would probably rather this knife than my 940-1. Too bad I already own the 940-1. I prefer the black/blue G-10 over CF.

If I so desired, I would sell the 940-1 for the new 940-1501. I really don't collect models and couldn't internally justify two knives that are almost identical.

I ended up passing on this one after all. It's really a sweet looking knife with great steel, but when I thought it over I already had two CF Osbornes--940 & 943--and a 3rd one would have been too much, even with the blue-black G10. I could sell one of the others, but I'd hate unloading a blade I like to get another variant. I got Derrick Bohn's email with the new KSF BM exclusive blacked-out Stryker in CF and CPM M4 and put up more $ and ordered that. It came yesterday, it's really well done, and I'm pleased to have a terrific blade that's of a different sort.

Benchmade's MAP pricing dictates that the lowest the dealer can advertise for is 15% below full retail

edit: Wow! Looks like KnifeWorks was charging full-retail on everyone that pre-ordered / bought the knife until today, and now they're offering refunds for the difference now that they've lowered the price to MAP! lol

Why was KnifeWorks charging full-retail on this knife up until today?

Re-read the earlier parts of this thread - this knife has been at $221 (MAP) since September 20, two days after they were released.

I see that. Why the fluctuating price, though?

You'd have to ask Knifeworks.

It's probably either because

a) they think they can make more money by moving more knives at a lower price

or

b) Roger's just a really stand-up guy after all.

Having bought primarily from Knifeworks for years now my guess is that it's a bit of both and I'm quite happy to continue doing business with them because of it.

I really like the CF over the black/blue g-10....would you be willing to swap/sell scales with me? that would truly make my dream edc knife! :)

You're right, it is nice of them to not charge full retail on the knife just because they can.

Or, possibly, the original page setup/pricing was a goof. It happens... :o

I got mine in on Tuesday. Not a single issue with it, smoothest axis I have owned and very sharp. I don't care for plain carbon fiber scales.
