95% of my users are never used

Most of my EDC knives get little use. I have a few that I don't carry that get a ton of use though. I have a Hawk Shortcut that gets used daily. It sits on my kitchen counter. Anything with glue, tape, food stuffs gets opened with that. The other main user is the REX 121 Sage 5. That's my dedicated cardboard knife. I couldn't count how many boxes that thing has broken down, and I've only had to sharpen it once.

After a while I convinced myself a knife isnt for cutting stuff, its just something for my bank account to be busy with.
On a serious note, as I've said I've dumped my knives into a sock drawer sans socks, the model that gets grabbed the most is a fully-serrated salt model
I dumped my knives into the sock drawer sans sheaths and the one that cuts me first when I reach in gets carried that day!

Seriously, though, like others here, I am reducing my collection drastically, making selection easier.

I have a knife that I use daily... but I almost never cut with it.

Is this another one of your wizard riddles?

It's my modded S35VN Resilience. I almost never cut with it, but it rides in my left cargo pocket daily, where it performs a very legit function; it keeps my phone from rotating to landscape mode in my pocket.

I don't have many knives.... unless you count unfinished ones.

All my kitchen cutting is done by my Arcolina in .06" 15N20 at 61 HRC.

All my EDC cutting is done by one of my two modded Spyderco Resiliences in 8Cr13MoV (which one depending on whether I am at home, or away - though they are identifcal aside from one usually being notably dusty) or my Edge-C in MagnaCut at 62 HRC.
It makes me quite happy that I have a model (Arcolinea) that you use frequently, and that you also felt worthy of giving to family!

I buy knives I like and would want to use. But sometimes when it comes time to use them as intended I don’t because I don’t want to ruin its pristine nature. Other times, for whatever reason I don’t care and use it as it was intended. Why I do or don’t, I have no idea. And it’s not governed by the value of the knife either. I have knives that are relatively inexpensive that I baby while using the hell out of others that cost three times as much. I just go with whatever feels right at the time.

felt worthy of giving to family!

If you're thinking of the last one I made with black palm, I was hired by a local friend to make it so he could give it as a gift this past Christmas.

I wholeheartedly agree with the title of this thread!
I have a knife addiction. I have carried less than 1% of my collection. I don't see the problem. I have a knife addiction 🤣
You can certainly send some neglected ones to me and a select group to get gently loved by myself and other grateful caretakers 😁

Knives have been a life-long passion for me. I've carried and used them for about 67 of my 73 years.
I like to compare them, how they carry in the pocket, how they feel in the hand, how they cut. I like to compare the usability of different lock mechanisms.
I have very few which have not been used. But most of them spend most of the time in my knife box. But I pull them out now and again to refresh my memory of how they perform, so I can compare other knives to them.

The fact that I have many knives that I don't frequently carry does not bother me in the least. This is my hobby, and I get to pursue it in any method that makes me happy.
YMMV

I found my two perfect knives, one a traditional and one a modern folder nearly 20 years ago.
I still have them and use them and they still suit my needs.
However, this has not stopped me from buying more knives as users, that I do not realistically need, but just like.

I'm with David Mary David Mary on this one, I think it's the knife maker's curse...

I don't have many knives either. I have a few that have sentimental value, some users, a few that I just think are nice or have for study/reverse-engineering, but overall I wouldn't call myself a collector in any capacity.

Very few knives are sacred to me, most get sold off to buy tools or supplies for making my own knives. I remember I shamelessly sold a Skookum to help pay for my grinder, and I once sold a Carothers to buy either steel or abrasives... I don't exactly remember which.
