Cool meako...keep lookin up! Well, at least until dinner. ;)
Our postal carriers have a holiday today (Martin Luther King Day). We're expecting a stampede tomorrow!
One Stallion (mine) has been chomping at the bit for the last two days only 1/2 mile away from my house. He's schedule for a run in the morning and I'm looking forward to meeting up with him!

I finally decided on the Ebony Stallion going to order tomorrow. Man this decision has been hard on an old man. :D

I don't know if this is meaningful, but the Orange Delrin 74 is marked as a second, though I don't know why. It is stainless and the 73 is carbon.

Alan,
Does your 74 orange delrin have a rough looking tang area under the stamping? Its my guess, that is why they were seconds.

Mark, I just took the 74 out and checked it over. It is as perfect as can be. The back spring is even in all 3 positions. I thought I'd read what was wrong when I got it, but obviously it can't be anything important if I can't find it.

Thanks fellas, just what I figured. I've had many #73s and a few other #74s (none with the drop point) and figured they used the same blades in both. I am surprised, though Joe, that your #73's frame is longer than the #74's. The #73's tip seems a little longer/sharper too, and the nick is a little bigger/deeper. Interesting to note the minor little differences in production knives.

I am surprised also . I just measured my 74 at 3.844 and my 73 in Stag at 3.781 . The blade of the 73 is just a little longer from Tang to Tip and the has a cut swage going back beyond the Nick . The width of the blades , from edged to back bone , are virtually the same . The 74 blade Tang is actually about .03 longer than the 73 .
I don't see enough difference in the blades to say that they are not made from the same blank and I think they probably are. The thing to notice about the 73 is that the ends of the Blade , Spring , and Bolsters are very close to be the same but Blade and Spring on the 74 is inset from the ends of the Bolsters. No matter the small differences , they both are very fine knives. I have just noticed , while still frogging around , that I Can Not insert the Blade on the 74 into the well in the 73 but can vice versus. Go Figure that . Neither blade has sideways movements.

Harry

Thank you very much for the very kind remarks Drew !!!! I am very happy to have it .
I am anxious to get the Yellow Rose to see how they look side by side. It is packaged but not shipped yet.

Harry

Most welcome, those yellow roses look amazing. I have a couple different knives delayed do to our winter storm up here.. one is an ebony Heartland I am really anxious to get my hands on. Hoping for some thaw tomorrow to help out the postal employees.

Congrats on being able to get a Heartland my friend. I tried , but did not make it .
We hear about your bad storms out there , but was it really that bad ?? Did you end up getting lots of calls from it ???

I took my Autumn Leaf on a little walk today. The kids wanted to head out back to explore our woods, and I never say no to that. :) I must say I'm surprised some of these are still available. I love the colors and think they're the prettiest 74 that came out this time around. Maybe I'm alone in that.

Nope! I agree. I really like the, Autumn Leaf bone best of this run. Got a surprise email that a few b/o's had arrived at DLT and ordered a smooth oiled second one myself.

Must not be!

Those Autumn Leaf scales are gorgeous! Very nice knife Meanstreaker

Harry, it's been pretty bad at least by Northwest standards. The most snow in over 30 years, high winds and ice. Now expecting some flooding. And work has been crazy for sure.. most natives here don't know how to cope with it like our Midwestern brethren :D

Sure sorry for you folks that it is that bad. We will be praying for you folks Drew.
Stay safe my friend.

I got this ordered tonight and am really happy. I went round and round with which one to order but the ebony just spoke to me I really liked the looks of it and that clip won me over from the Mustang version. This is the first GEC I've bought for me this year but the third knife. Problem is I had resolved not to buy anything but GEC for myself in 2017. This of course is not my photo I will post the real deal when it comes in.

They all look great but I'm partial to that Ebony as well. Beautiful knives everyone, I'm enjoying all the pictures.

Nice choice, Randy! I've got one of those on its way to me, too. Should be here tomorrow.

Randy I initially told my dealer I had interest in the ebony 74, then I saw the green glass jigged bone and changed my mind. The ebony again has my interest...I am going to have to decide tomorrow for sure. I know get both!!!, but can I convince the boss:eek:

Harry, many many thanks my friend. Hopefully slightly warmer temps are around the corner.

Randy, excellent choice! And it seems like there should be a January grace period in any and all no knife buying vows right? :D

I know what you mean Randy they're all so sweet it's tough to decide. Ebony is always a good decision in my book. This one caught my attention and after 3 days of consideration I'm very happy I finally placed the order.
