Early in my (ongoing!) Fiddleback Bender®, Warrior108 wrote me privately to offer me the opportunity to borrow examples of some of the patterns of particuluar interest to me.

I recently decided to take him up on his gracious offer, asking to see a Gaucho and a Sylvrfalcen in light of my Want list (currently, Sylvrfalcen, Gaucho, Bear Cub).

Imagine my consternation when a way-heavier-than-two-knives box arrived, containing:

I'll unfold my thoughts below but first and last I want to say THANK YOU to Jerry for this extraordinary opportunity, one I would never have imagined. I love, but love, to learn about knives and compare them to one another, and having this to look forward to is an extraordinarily timely gift.

Also? I'm grateful, all over again, to every one of you who has ever taken time to provide your pictures, descriptions, and impressions of the knives we come here to learn about and enjoy. As I look more closely at Jerry's knives, and especially hold them in hand, many of my initial determinations regarding given knives' attributes and/or suitability for me are being confirmed-- a direct result of what a great job you are all doing, here.

I was about to say the exact same thing until I saw that you beat me to it!

Once he sends it to you, I'll take it for final destruction. :D

Nope send it to the hill country Jerry the BBQ is on me! Not to mention the hog hunt 🤝
I'll give it a fitting and proper burial[emoji12]

But seriously That's a grand gesture Sir.
And I see you've included a fair amount of OK&T blades too!

I thought the review/comparison of the hiking buddy was very good. Can't wait to see what you do with this many.

I see some Surls in there too.

Second row (middle)4th knife down

Send it to me

Im sure jerry is cool with it

Ha! I was also eyeing the PK as well as the Karda, and then scrolled down and saw I'm like 5th in line! I love that we're all claiming Jerry's knives. Very funny.

This just reinforces my belief that this is one of the coolest forum on the internet!

Somehow, I don't think this is quite what Jerry has in mind! :D

The Pocket Kephart is a sweet lil' thing...

... as is the Karda:

It helps that they're both the Perfect Color®, of course.

Some of Shadetree's Navy Blue handles turn out more turquoise than others....

Speaking of blue handles, this is some of the most beautiful handle material I've seen:

WAS Palmer in Arctic Ice

I haven't had the right time/light for better pictures, but I'm not sure pictures can do the Arctic Ice justice. (Is there any more of it out there, on anything?!)

An overwhelmingly great gesture, and yes Surls, OK&T, and Fleming are in the mix. In the interests of full disclosure, the impact of opening this many knives at once left me in tears-- because of Jerry's trust and generosity in the lending, and because of the sheer wonder of seeing so much incredible handiwork all at once.

Thanks for your kind words, NBrackett, but I am admittedly overwhelmed by the sheer volume of cutlery! I've already drawn some definite conclusions, but photographing and 'splaining them all will prove a challenge.

My primary (personal) focus is here...

... but there is so much more to see, and learn, and ponder. I mostly keep picking 'em up and putting 'em down. :)

There you go with that cool macro lens [that I haven't yet purchased]. The Arctic Ice really looks good !

Definitely an awesome gesture by Jerry! I'm enjoying your comparison photos, P. That last one really reinforces my need to get another Patch. My first Fiddleback was a Patch which I have since sold. My perfect Patch, in case anyone was wondering, would be a very simple black commando on 3/32 A2. :D

Does anyone know about this knife roll? I can tell it's not waxed But it does hold a lot of blades and I need a couple. Where and how much?

Robert/Marc,
Do you want to field this question on the 11-knife knife tools?

The pic is of two rolls. One laid over another. I have one but it's at home and I can't recall who makes it. Phillip was the one who told me where to get it. It is not waxed but it's made of a pretty heavy duty canvas material.

Super gesture and by far the best way to choose your preferred knife style. Bet it's going to be a tough choice Sarah!

Here's one of the rolls closed:

As I no longer see these on FO's site, I'll go ahead and post a close-up of the roll label:

Visit ruffianspecialties.com and search out their "canvas tool wrap" selection [this one's their 11-pocket model]; for a small additional charge, personalize your own. :)

Oh, and to answer a follow-up question from Varga49, it's not a table, but something even better:

Way to go Jerry! Nice pics pertinux, look forward to reading your opinions.

Absolute kudos to Jerry, for every good reason and then some!

I'm editing a next round of photos now. This experience is clarifying, confirming, and is in fact making next choices even easier-- up to a point.

Stay tuned for More, including how Comprehensivist and I keen even closer than first suspected when it comes to knife handle preferences. ;)
