The first bushcraft knife I made of my design has been ground, tested, re-ground, and basically is not that appealing any more
I am mainly using it for a reference for my handle shape these days.
Every other one I have made since then has gone to another home.
I knew I wanted to make me another, but I was uninspired by a handle material choice. Micarta is great, and there are some cool wood choices out there. However, since the knife was Scandinavian inspired, I was looking for something a bit more "traditional."
My first thought was birch. But is seems rather boring. Then I thought CURLY BIRCH! Yes, that was going to be it.
Problem was, I was having a HARD time getting some in the US. So, finally I gave up and ordered some from Finland.
I just finished up the knife last night, and I am EXTREMELY pleased with it.
Here it is:
My handle shape:
I really love the look in this section:
I hope you like the pics. I know I am in love with the knife!
