A Bushcrafter for ME!!! :D

I guess we're starting to sound like a broken record, but that knife came out beautiful...really nice looking piece of wood too...good job Brian!

Man that is super nice! Got any tips to making a good even scandi grind?

Certainly. The head on my grinder tilts, so I have a fixture to hold the knife perfectly vertical. Since that is all it needs to do, it was pretty simple to make one.

If you don't have a tilting head, a fixture would be more complicated, but you pretty much need one, I would think.

I also have a ceramic platen on my grinder (thanks to the suggestion from Fiddleback). Seems to help keep things cool.

Don't screw around with old belts. Keep them fresh. The metal starts getting thin, and old belts heat more than grind and will ruin the temper.

The closer you get to being done with the grind, dunk/cool more. Less metal means faster heating.

Other than that, just be patient.

I have a set of water stones I really want to polish this one off on, but have not done it yet.

See now? That's what I've been talking about. Every man ought to have at least one perfect knife in his collection!

Looks like you have a winner there Brian, great looking handle and blade shape, awesome choice with the curly birch.

Dennis

looks great! curly birch is my favorite wood for handles. i have a few knives with it and they all look awsome. that one is definatly a winner!

If i may add my one cent worth of an opinion .......................... That is a one pretty (not many good words left after everyone else used them up) knife... The lines flow just right. The handle is a work of art... I love wood handles they always feel warm when you hold them...

Man that is one great looking knife. Getting the handle material from Finland was well worth the effort.

Damn that's nice..you keep improving ever time you post new pictures
