Photos A cool looking design from Ozark trail

So ZT could learn something based off of one's opinion?

Cool!
I think ZT should give us knives free of charge!

I bet more people would agree with my opinion than yours. Furthermore, my opinion wouldn't cost them That much more! Hell, I'll pay shipping and save them a few dollars!

I didn't literally mean they could learn something, and not sure why I worded it that way.
We all wish certain companies would do certain things because we all have preferences.

What do you think of the looks of the Lionsteel SR1, Hickory?

Not exactly the same outline but it has that sort-of tallish drop point blade and a pretty neutral handle?

I like the way they look, it seems a bit big in every direction for my taste but it's nice looking.

I didnt get the feeling you were looking for trouble. to me You seem enthusiastic about your purchase, thats all i took from it. And thats fine. But for me a knife is first and foremost a cutting tool and as such must have a good steel. My big concern with a knife like that at walmart is that now someone looking for a gift may pick that up not knowing any different and think, well why are these other ones so expensive, this is a great deal. An american company just cant compete with that price. So thst is my economic objection. My other objection is that i know bsrgain knives have steel that typically will not take kwen edges and will not have sufficient edge retention. Plus, knives are sharp and can hurt you and i wouldnt trust that a 4 dollar knife would be safe either.

Fair enough.
How about we approach this a little differently.

What elements of this knife do you like, and which would you like to see on another model?

I think the Benchmade Crooked River (or Mini) might be Right up your alley. This would also net you a step up in just about everything (aside from friendliness to the wallet). That being said, I would rather give my funds to Benchmade than Ozark Trail.

Very well put brother and I think he’s getting the exact reaction he was hoping for.
Joe

That's not the case at all, and I don't even know why I mentioned ZT at all.
All I really maent to do was say " I found a knife that I think looks cool, it was dirt cheap, and will cut stuff "
Is there really a problem with buying a dirt cheap knife like this just because you like the way it looks ?
I'm going to try carry this for a week and see how well it works.

Everyone is free to like what they like and if this knife pleases you, enjoy it and use it in good health.

I think it's kinda cool that I could slide a stack of business cards between the bolster and the scale for some new EDC options.

Personally, in the same price range, I'd probably pick up a Rough Rider.

I wouldn't consider this a "home run" design. More like "awarded first base on catcher interference".

I don't see where either of these are all that "busy".
Of all the ZT knives, the ones that look most like Hickory's are the Rexfords, for sure. Personally, I think they're really slick. Even more neutral handled than that Ozark Trail.

Hmm, don't recall seeing the top one before it's not too busy.
I guess maybe they do make some designs I don't hate the look of, I just never saw them.

Easy enough to see what ZT has to offer, or any other company for that matter. I used to be of a mind that Spydercos were ugly until I actually started caring enough to look at everything they produce and, as a result, I have actually found a fair number of their designs that I like. So before painting a company in such a broad brush and then letting everybody know about it, it might be prudent to actually look and see if a company is truly worthy of your distaste.

Just my $.02, of course.

There are certainly some ZT designs that I do not care for, so I won't buy them, but I know better than to assume that they all are ugly. In fact, I find most of them to be right up my alley. But again, different strokes and all...

It's got a simple blade shape, and simple handle shape with no unnecessary extra curves, lines , or extra choils.
If I traced the knife it could easily be a traditional small fixed blade.

Btw I'd also never give an Ozark trail knife like this to a kid, and do hate that many people who know little about knives get these cheap knives as gifts from relatives who know also know little about knives. In these situations you carry the knife because it was a gift, and because you don't know about knives you use and depend on then it fails when you need it most.
I figured as a knife enthusiasts I could give it a run and remember what it was like carrying cheapo one handed openers as a teenager .I bought this knowing it's a cheap knife, but opened / inspected it to discover that it instantly seemed better than all of the $5-$10 junk knives I had so many of as a teenager.
I thought that knife enthusiasts might be able to stop and think " hmmm, maybe a $4 knife can be usable if not a tiny bit more than that "

$4 really. I wonder how much this manufacturer pays their employees etc.? just sayin'... if it's to good to be true...

I agree that the Benchmade Crooked River seems like a modern folder with premium materials that the OP would appreciate the style of. It ain't cheap but it is made in the USA by a good company with a good warranty. I just don't really see ZT making any traditional style knives.

The Crooked River and 0452 are two knives that have both been calling my name for a while now. :)

Maybe if this was an actual review some people might have gone along with that line of thinking. So far all this has been is, "I think this cheap little knife looks cool, ZT sucks for not making knives that look cool like this."

I've seen Ozark Trail knives literally fall apart, I don't care how inexpensive they are, I don't want a knife that I don't trust. There are so many quality options for <$20 that I don't need to gamble on something that might spectacularly fail and end up cutting me.

If you want better feedback put a little more though into what you post.

Don't actually like the looks of the bantam , got the Bucklite max 482 instead which I've loved for years.

Btw the point of this thread was to show a knife design / shape that I found and liked.
I didn't set out to find my new favorite EDC or alert the world of the latest and greatest budget knife.
it's a dirt cheap knife that I liked the look of and knew would take an edge and cut stuff.
I would rather have a knife I think looks cool on my workbench than a boring old jiffy cutter.
I do not have heavy duty folder needs and will not need a cheap cost excuse for it breaking or something.

I'm sorry for even mentioning ZT, it's just that I wish they would make some knives with simple straightforward shapes / designs along these lines so I didn't have to dislike them.
I didn't mean make this exact design just something with the same simplicity of form.

All I'm saying with this thread is "here's this knife , I think it looks cool
, it's only $4 , and it will get sharp and cut stuff.

I didn't intend to ruffle any feathers, just show a knife that happens to be dirt cheap and not necessarily look like a Tac-force.
No, we get why you had to throw in jab at zt. You do it all the time. You wouldn't fork over the money that zt would ask for a knife perfectly designed for you anyway. It would be a waist of their time, r&d, and production space.

I don't do it all the time, but I have done it a number of times.
I'm done doing it though, I guess they're just not for me and I'll leave it there from now on.
