A few prototype videos from SHOT

The upcoming Karahawk should be interesting to all the hawkbill and karambit fans. Compared to the older Spyderco Warren Thomas Karambit, the Karahawk felt like a much lighter and more compact design. I’m not a karambit aficionado, but I had no trouble drawing and gripping this knife in both forward and reverse grips. The ergos were excellent.

Oooh that's gonna be a fun one. Thanks for sharing!

The Domino prototype was one of my favorites. The flipper-action was really smooth and the opening hole was better to use than on the Southard for example. The profile reminds me of the Manix; it is about the same size and has the same great ergonomics. This one is definitely on my wishlist. Note that the handle material is a glass woven laminate over G-10, not carbon fiber. Eric mentions the clip being right-hand only, but you can see that the handle seems to be drilled for a 4-way clip. I’ll check it out further at the upcoming Amsterdam Meet.

Domino looks great as does the Goddard.

Any news on the larger sized Dragonfly? Is it the Dragon?

Wow, it didn't take long for them to come out with another flipper. I like the way the flipper is hidden after deployment. It's definitely in need of a custom scale job though

Holy crap. Looks like I need to start putting some money aside. Matriarch, Domino, and Karahawk are on the must have list. If you've got more videos coming I might need to get a second job.

What was the steel on the Karahawk?

So the Domino must be the flipper Sal said Eric designed some time ago? Regardless, looks great!

Dang you. I was good until I saw the Domino. I need to build a better resistance to the temptation.

Hmmm! Domino, Karahawk and Matriarch w/ emerson. Gonna be sweet! Glad to see more waveable Spydercos too -- will definitely pick up the Matri for a new tactical folder.

For my last SHOT show video, Ed Schempp was kind enough to sit down with me and my camera to explain the origins of the Balance design, which in turn inspired the upcoming Equilibrium folder. These are very refined little big knives. I can highly recommend them. The customized Balance Ed shows at the start of this video, features a scale made from Warren Thomas stainless raindrop pattern damascus. Ed made the scale from this material.

The Domino looks fantastic. I really hope it makes it past the prototype phase and into production this year.
