He -- the author of the thread that you find offensive -- apparently didn't find the problems "that serious." He noted the problems, how he fixed them, and why he elected to do the repairs himself. Was that conduct, in an of itself, improper in your view?As far as being prohibitive or expensive, you might want to look at where I live. I understand, as well as anyone, how prohibitive it can be but if something is that serious, I would find a way to send it.
"HONESTY...is such a lonely word....everyone is so untrue..."
I'm not just talking about the song here. I do believe that many people have forgotten what that word really means. Along with a few other words such as "LOYALTY", "INTEGRITY", and "RESPECT".
I am over here at BF because of the post about Strider knives. Right off the bat, the post was incredibly moronic, as the original poster did not even show pics of what happened and never made an effort to contact Strider knives in order to get the problem rectified. If you review all the posts in that thread, he keeps mentioning how he got the knife "new and unused", and yet he doesn't have even a pic to prove what he is saying is what really happened.
But that wasn't the worst part. To be fair, the original poster resolved his issues. What made me write this thread is because of the hypocritical and overbearing nerve of the Strider haters over at BF who took this opportunity again to unfairly bash Strider knives, and yet proclaim that "they would do the same thing to any knife company had the same lousy QC as Strider has".
Guess what? I posted a link to a thread where one of the BF members was having problems with his Benchmade, and I was told it wasn't the same because that knife "wasn't a $400 dollar knife".
Other posters were hitting me for allegedly spouting "malicious" and "unqualified" outbursts in defending Strider knives when they themselves "weren't actually singling out Strider knives" as far as the QC issue goes.
GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!
Why is it that some people just could not accept that we all have choices, we all are different, and we will get what we want, whether it be knives, guns, body armor, etc., based on our personal needs and requirements?
Why is it some people keep on bashing Strider knives and yet hide under the cloak of appropriateness and convenience by saying, "It's not just Strider knives, I'll go and bust out on any company that has shoddy QC and mucks it up as much as Strider knives!!!"
Yeah, posers, whatever.......
For once, I just wish the ********s over there and in every other forum that hates Striders to just stand up and say it out loud and proud, i.e., "Hi, my name is _____________(insert name here, even if it's just your computer name), and I HATE STRIDER KNIVES because ___________(insert criticism here) !" just to get it out of their system. It sickens me that they go and hide behind the veil of "keeping it real", "looking out for the public welfare", and "that shouldn't be the quality of a $400+ knife!"
This is one of the horrors the computer age brings - the anonymity the Internet affords makes some lower forms of life believe that they have carte blanche authority to be the moral and ethical police, whether we like them to or not. Well, there is a difference between "keeping it real" and "not allowing me the pleasure of thinking and deciding for myself", and these people don't seem to know the difference.
Another thing which I find totally incredulous is that they accuse Strider fans of being "rabid dogs who pounce at anyone that even thinks of smearing the Strider name", and yet I, for one, could characterize them as being the same, if not worse, because they seem to take a perverse pride in slamming anyone who even has an inkling of standing up for Strider on BF and other forums. They also possess the sanctimonious attitude of thinking they are the only ones who know what there is to know about knives, and they make others feel that what knowledge they possess doesn't amount to much.
Yeah, right~
Honesty is not about getting on the Internet and proclaiming to all the world that life sucks because you didn't get what you expected to when you shelled out the money to get your new knife (whether it be Strider, Busse, Benchmade, etc.). Honesty is about facing the realities that life throws out, and then finding ways to make a "suck" situation better, such as contacting the manufacturer and talking to him so he can make it right, and doing this without any fanfare. Honesty is also being able to walk up to someone and tell that person that you have issues with him face-to-face, not hiding behind a computer screen and typing your gripes out on a forum. It's pretty much like airing out your dirty laundry in public. In the end, you only end up making an ASS out of yourself.
Respect is all about giving credit where credit is due, and not having to slander anybody by rehasing old issues, especially when it comes to past military service and such which a lot of the BF regulars use as their arguments against Strider knives. Hell, do any of them really know what they're talking about?
I've never lived a sheltered life - my experiences helped shaped me to make do with the things I have. In fact, it is only now that I'm able to enjoy some of the finer things that I never had when I was younger. But I look at this as a plus since it helps me to think on my feet and "improvise, adapt, and overcome" (Thanks, Clint!). I know that life sometimes throws a curve ball, and when it does, you have to be able to respond to it the best way you know how and not spend time "crying over spilled milk". It just makes me vomit when these people talk about Striders with "off-centered blades", "shoddy Quality Control", "the knives look fucking ugly", and slam people for buying Strider knives and standing up for them, yet when you do the same thing with Benchmade, Busse, etc., they call you a "cultist", "weirdo", and "wannabe".
To me, these people lack INTEGRITY. They can't stand up on their own merits and try to slam other people down just to make themselves feel good. They have no moral fiber, no idea of what it means to live and let live, and having to make sacrifices in order to get the job done.
I only own a few knives. The few that I own, I know that they will serve me well and would serve my son well when he gets to inherit them. It saddens me to know that we live in a world where people have to be judgemental, hypocritical, and condescending, but I'm just glad that there are still a few people left who understand these concepts, and I know that I will be an ardent supporter of these people for all my days!
Love Your Self Or Hate Your Life.
Pay no attention; it's just the commodity traders sending each other coded messages. I think that one means "Sell pork bellies short" but don't bet the farm on it ... it might mean something else entirely....
Funny I never hear issues with Sebenzas, another $400 knife but consistently keep hearing about Striders, on $400-$800 knives. So yes, it is about QC issues with a company that apparently isn't doing the same thing CRK must be doing. It doesn't sound like a management issue as much as a quality issue. I also hear complaints that there are minor sub-par issues that come up too but never from CRK. You tell me. What are they doing differently? If there were as many issues at CRK, you can bet they wouldn't escape criticism either.
