A.G. Russell Xmas email...

Good God people! This is A.G. Russell you're talking about. A seller of high quality, well made knives for YEARS. Not some two-bit, gas-station knife dealer. Who here DOESN'T have his catalog sent to their house? Do you honestly think the man would go around stealing other peoples ideas? Burn all kinds of bridges to make ONE knife? Lets think a little before we start to slander a leader in our industry.

A. G. makes some great stuff.

I'll be getting one of these frame locks for sure

Geez... Why is everybody getting huffy? I'm sure Sal can defend himself if he feels the need for defense. He doesn't need a "posse" to go after A.G. Everyone should remember that certain things get lost in translation between the time someone types something and someone else reads it.

The guy is trying to find a name for this very nice new design. He's even trying to offer something to a member of the BF multitudes for finding the perfect name. Alot of knives use the RIL and some use the LBS. Do you think he'd use Rick's patented Lockbar Stabalizer without permission? That's just a lawsuit waiting to happen and I'm sure A.G. has been in the game long enough know that.

I'm all for giving credit where credit is due, but where is the credit given on the multiple knives that use the RIL or the few knives that use Rick's Lockbar Stabalizer? I think that Sal does a good thing by giving Chris Reeve recognition for the RIL on the Sage II RIL and the upcoming Military RIL, but the bottom line is that Sal is doing something out of respect and not because he has to. The RIL is not a patented design and can be used by any maker out there.

Give the guy a break. A.G. offers some very fine in house knives and is a dealer for other well known brands as well. Maybe talk to the man with a little respect instead of jumping on his back.

If you don't like what I'm sayin here then feel free to PM and Email me all you want. Let's try not to crap up the thread up any more than it is.

Anybody have any more name suggestions?

I'd like to add to my suggestions above "The A. G. Russell Springdale".
How about simply "The 189"?
"The Spark" after Spark, whose Forum was asked to name the nice thing.

In all honesty, I'll be buying one no matter what it's called. If A. G. calls it the A. G. Russell Super Duper ZDP-189 Titanium Frame Lock Named By the Guys At BladeForums (the AGRSDZDPTFLNBGABF for short) I'll whip mine out with pride and announce the name. The man makes some good stuff

A. G. has never sold me a crappy knife.

I just wish I could get the specs of that knife so I CSM see if it's something I can legally carry where I live. More specifically blade length because I do find that knife very interesting.

What about Maximus? (Latin for greatest)

Seems appropriate, since it incorporates some of the greatest features of today's folding knives.

handle length 4.6 inches

blade length 3.62 inches by over 1 1/8 inches wide

Here ya go Steel Snob. From post #117

What he said.

How about A.G. Russell Zenith?

zenith - The point of culmination; the peak

It's ZDP, which is, imo, one of the best steels available and it incorporates the best features from other competitive products on the market...

...and it's catchy. :D

Thanks Tony. I must have missed that somehow. Probably because all the pain meds the doctor has me on:D

No problem SS. How are you even looking at a computer screen my man? Those things knock me out.

I was thinking of The KO, but I thought some may be confused because of Ken Onion's initials. So maybe The TKO?

Hey A.G. how long is the average turnaround on Emails? I sent one out, but haven't heard back. Do you answer all of these yourself?

If you send it to agr@agr3.com then it should be same or next day. If you send it to ag@agrussell.com (customer service) then it can range from next day to never.

If you sent it to agr@agr3.com, I am sorry but I must have missed it in the mass of emails through today. Please try again.
