A game of Never will I ever, Bladeforums edition

They are the (slightly modified) lyrics to the Rick Astley song “Never gonna give you up”. You’ve just been Rick-rolled!
Welp , I heard this " song " from my first wife ,a very long time ago , and was young and fool enough to believe . :(

Don't know Rick's work , but he did not invent this line .

Never will I ever buy a primary carry EDC knife that I can not pocket carry lefty, tip up.

Good ones so far.

Never will I buy into a budget brand. I've done so in the past and I've always sold them, they just weren't satisfying and I don't see that changing
Never will I buy a CRK. To me, it's just a heritage brand of 90s era knives. No thanks
Never will I buy a Medford or Hinderer or Strider or Emerson. Not my jam
Never will I carry tip-down
Never will I buy a >3" fixed blade and expect myself to carry it around. They print, take up more space, and don't do anything better than a folder except for maybe woods work and survival situations

Never will I ever say never will I ever - except for a hole in the blade; unless it's made by CPK. I might make an exception if Nathan makes it.

Winner winner chicken dinner! Except OTF.

There sure is bunch of y'all "no tip down" folks. I will admit - I haven't done it in a long time but that is mainly because most knives don't accommodate it. I had a Gerber EZ Out, a LONG time ago and i am pretty sure it was tip down. I am looking forward to the Spydies I plan on buying because I can try it out again. I seem to remember it being much better.

My Blur is set up for it but the handle is so short there is not much reason to do it.

Never will I ever have only one knife. Collection wise.
Never will I ever buy a clone. Even if a decent product, still a knockoff of someone else’s design and supports those trying to make a dishonest buck.

If you ever carry a gentleman’s knife in your shirt pocket, you might wanna reconsider

Truth be told, it's because the ladies prefer tip-up.

I will never buy a clone either.

Never will I ever get in a van with "free knives" spray painted on the side.

never will I ever shove a cat down my pants
never will I ever light a fart with a torch
never will I ever drive the speed limit
never will I ever buy a flipper (again)
never will I ever buy every spyderco I want
never will I ever slice habaneros and then go pee (again)
never will I ever sharpen a knife while drunk (again)
never will I ever have a big enough of a knife colllection

I only have a few hard and fast rules of thumb.

Never will I ever buy a balisong, because they are super dumb in my opinion.
Never will I ever buy a half serrated tanto bladed folding knife
Never (again) will I ever buy an Emerson knife
Never will I ever buy a MickBurgerBag knife

I don't really think they're dumb, it's a simple, sleek, solid construction, usually with a lot of edge which I like. I just probably won't buy one anytime soon because of how overpriced they are. I also hate that they have such a bad reputation.
I'd like to make one.

Never will I ever rush to get a new folder before they release the left handed version.

I won't buy another Chinese made knife.
I won't use a tip down carry only knife.
I won't buy a strider or quartermaster knife.
I won't do a mirror blade polish.

Never will I ever give more than 2 seconds of thought to a knife being tip up or tip down in orientation.

If you feel that way, please please please don’t ever get involved with collecting flashlights. I speak from personal experience. You’ll very likely end up regretting it.

I never "collected" flashlights, but I went through the too many flashlights and too many knives phase at the same time. Thankfully, I sold most of both years ago. I've whittled my knives down to two, but I do have more flashlights than that.

  • EDC - Streamlight Microstream
  • Nightstand - Surefire of some sort
  • Jeep - Fenix PD35
  • Jeep - Fenix E01
  • Truck - Fenix UC35
  • Truck - Fenix E01
And then three headlamps--one for each vehicle and one in my hiking pack. Now that I listed it out, I could easily scale that list down by eliminating the E01s because I've literally never used them. They were put in there for just in case, but I have a headlamp and a Fenix 35 in each vehicle already. I think I'll go through my vehicles soon and purge the unnecessary stuff. Thanks for the inspiration!
