I have 3 snakes currently, here's the Colombian red tail boa

He's around 8ft. My mom loved snakes, so we always had them growing up.

Most of my snake pics were on previous computer. I sold out a few years ago to reclaim my home and time. I did business as KBIherp (website defunct), was hhmoore (shocker - I am who I am) on faunaclassifieds

Was afraid of snakes as a youngster, so I forced myself to catch then in order to lose my fear. Lucky up here now there is only the occasional Cotton Mouth, and they are quite rare, but other than a baby’s nest, I’ve only seen giant ones. Biggest one I accidentally caught was while seining a narrow creek for fishing shiners and up in the net came a monster Cotton Mouth.

Favorites to catch are the Black Racers and the Corn Snakes, beautiful creatures. Never hurt them, just admire them and set them free in a nice safe area. Those big Boa’s down South sure look like they’d give you your run for the money, those could be a real challenge. I read there is even a bounty on them now days.

One real cool one comes out in the fall to warm up on the pavement like nightcrawlers, brown/red on top and bright yellow on the bottom, only the size of a pencil. They hurt nothing, but the Ravens and Hawks pick them off the roads come evening, easy food, Pine Snakes is what the locals call them.
