A Giveaway - Now with a Winner!

"I'm in", can't help but enter. I do love seeing your Barlow posts every now and again, especially your affection for the #25.
Thanks for the chance!

I'm in!
I come here now and then, but I dont post a whole lot in this forum.
I keep coming back because old fashoned knives, and antique knives hit a soft spot on me.
I enjoy my slip-joints and definitely need more. :D

I'm in. And I have to say just how grateful I am to the good people here who are so willing to share the knowledge and experience... and in some instances, their snark... but, generally good natured thoughts on this or that question I may have posted. Because of them, bought and daily carry my beloved GEC #42 Missouri Trader lock back http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog...09/421112lb-MS-Trader-copperhead-jig-bone.jpg and will soon be ordering a custom shop Buck 110. So, thanks for the opportunity to win a great knife.

A very generous giveaway and thankyou, I'm in..I never heard of GEC until I started hanging out here..If you look in the dictionary under Barlow..I'll bet its your 25.

What I enjoy is the relaxed friendly atmosphere. I get to see knives from all over the world. I get to be part of a great family.

Thanks for the opportunity!

“I’m in”

Do not normally enter, but I can't pass up this oppertunity

Thanks for the giveaway

New to the forum as just found out about it in last week. Where have you been these last 40some years? LOL.

Looking forward to learning about all styles of knives.

Mighty kind of you to do the giveaway, please consider me "in" as well.
Thanks!

I am in! I would like to offer the following pictures to accompany my entry.

These are my most carried GEC's.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you the following special announcements, followed by station identification.

Thank you so much for all the kind words, and for all that everyone shares that makes this forum what it is.

Wonderful!! Can I have the replicator, instead of the knife if I win?? Hmmm??:rolleyes

I too, wouldnt mind getting the replicator:eek:

Hmmm, it does occur that I'm not doing all I can with this particular Machine.... ;-)

I just throw all mine a drawer and let nature take its course.

Not an entry as I already have a litter of these pocket-gems....

Ed, it sounds like you and willgoy are onto something...!

Then, this:
...if...Elliott allows me a couple hours in his... closet, I'd be a happy man :D

FAUSTO!!

(Okay, that wasn't fair, but fun all the same. For me. ;))

I'm in! Great giveaway. The 25 is a perfect coin pocket knife.

I love the ebony!

For those who don't know, the all steel construction is cool!

This, from the man whose pictures and descriptions of (and obvious love for) his stag #25 were directly responsible for my pouncing on one of my own when the occasion arose.
(Thanks again, Boggs.)

not an entry, but this is a pretty great thread so i want to post in it.

This made me laugh out loud! Thanks.

... basically-- you rock.

Thanks, Duncan. Your words mean a lot.
...Would you consider telling this to my teenagers? They seem to have missed the memo.

Maybe after the New Year I'll come up with an idea of my own, maybe closer to my birthday. Don't know if I can come up with Kitten Parchissi to pick a winner though.

Alas, I have no foster kitten babies at hand this time to assist with the final selection, so will have to resort to other methods.

My least favorite part of running a giveaway is picking just one winner, so I will do what I can to create a process I both enjoy and whose results are random.

Each entry gets a card matching its post number (ignore any colors, only the number matters). After massive shuffling, sorting, and re-ordering, I'll pick 10-12 cards from the stack. From that reduced number I'll select subsets through rolling dice (thanks for the ideas, Quattromori and sitflyer), until I have the entries down to just two.

At that point I'll flip a medallion to select the Winner.

Guess which side is Heads? ;)

If you haven't entered yet, there's still time. I'll select the winner around noon tomorrow (EST).

Good luck everyone, and thanks again.

Just saw this one. Never owned a barlow and ebony has become my favorite handle material so I am in on this one. Thanks for the chance P, much appreciated.

I think I enjoy the great diversity we have around here. No matter what side of a fence we are on for any given topic, the absolutely upstanding folks of this little community always conduct themselves with pride and respect. Hard to find most anywhere these days. Being surrounded by it here is certainly something special. I admittedly spend way to much time around here but its hard to look away from all the great reading. Thanks again and happy holidays to you and your family

Edit: The top pic is heads :D

Very generous of you. Please count me in.
I'm grateful to this forum for providing me info/photos of patterns I never knew existed. I was purely a SAK user until I started lurking here. I never knew what I was missing.
I've always wanted to try one of those little GEC's, so this might be my chance.
Much Thanks.
Andrew

I'm in. Thanks for the chance. I'm a new convert to Barlows, having finally found one with solid bolsters, and I've never seen a GEC in real life.
This picture was taken to show off my latest, a last-gasp Robeson made by Camillus (1965-72), sized between a Barlow (my prized Ulster Prince Albert) and a peanut (Kutmaster).

I do not post here as often as I would like to be honest. I learned more about knives here in this forum and my philosophy about knife design and use has been shaped by this forum. I now judge every knife I look at by "Does this stand up to my sodbuster" I stupidly traded. That is the next knife I'm buying, a sodbuster that is. One of my favorite things about this forum is the stories from Carl and everyone else. After all that I would like to say that I'm in.

Im in, thanks so much for the GAW. i enjoy getting help from people around here. but i like giving help even more. :)

It is nice to step out onto the porch once in a while....

Thanks for the chance!

I just have to enter for this one, so I'm in please. Being new here I'm blown away by the generosity of the people here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

This forum has helped me re-discover my love for traditionals that my grandfather taught me...I'm in

Not sure if it's too late or not but I would love tobe in on this if you will accept it. I have not posted on the traditional forum as yet but becuse of it have been swayed to focus my collecting towards traditional folders. I have recently acquired a GEC from a member here and it has not left my pocket since arriving last week it is a GEC whittler #72 with calico scales and is a piece of pocket jewelry.

Thankyou for your generous GAW and I will certainly become more active on the traditional forum as I learn.
