I'm getting my new Gladius soon,

and for all those "Zombie Scenarios" it seems like a nice shield would massively increase survivability

So i'm thinking up picking up one of these. It's a Paulson Round Riot Shield. It won't say "police". Under $100

I think it would be quite nifty on a home invasion too :)

Cheesy picture, but it's the only one i can find that shows the size relative to a person.

Not bad but I would want more vertical protection , say mid chest to top of the knee.

I gotta ask-how would this be useful in home invasions? If given the opportunity-reach for the tool that goes bang-not the foreign plexi-glass.

my thinking is kinda as follows. I live in an apartment. I have a very long hall between my living room and my bedroom. I am pretty good with a pistol, but light-housing in a dark house makes you an instant target.

Having something that prevents an invader from popping you as you exit the bedroom into the hall, before you can identify his location is a good thing.

I think you watch too much TV.

.

lol i admit freely that I mostly want it cause it looks cool and a shield goes hand in hand with a gladius... for home defense, a large strobe light installed at the mouth of the hallway facing toward the living room is MUCH more effective.

Don't you ever do something just cause it amuses you?

They have these things... called shotguns. Just sayin'.

Why? it's about pairing a shield with my new Busse Gladius :) we got off track with the home defense stuff, which is really not the point at all

You know, the guy in the picture looks like a real pansy. 100 to 1 says I can kick his ass even with his gear. I know I can take billy club hits to the face and head no problem...I apparently had a little too much "fun" while on leave in Spain when I was in the Army back in 91. One of the local cops held my arms as his buddy bashed me in the face and head about 8 or 9 times with his billy club before I got an arm free and tried to knock him out. Just before I was about to land my money punch thats when a 3rd local cop that had just shown up grabbed my arm in mid swing. Together him and the other one holding me slammed my head into the top of the trunk...where the side and top of the wheel well meets into a angle / point. That stunned me enough to get me into the back of the car and cart me down to the local jail. What a fun evening. All my buddies were pissed because they had to bail me out and they used up all their funds for leave. Oops.

If your gonna do it, go all the way and replace the horizontal brace with Blue and Black G10 with a Busse logo.

Have them mod the gladius to mount on the bayonet lugs of an AK, then get a converted Saiga 12. Nothing makes a better shield than 20 rounds of #4 buck flying in the direction of the bad guy. Plus, you get an extra 2-3 feet of reach with the Gladius ;)

Cold Steel Medieval Buckler Polycarbonate Training Shield

Oh, search on above... not for "real protection" but it would look cool with the Gladius.

Busse Custom Shop INFI scutum. I already wish they'd make a warhammer out of INFI.

Wasn't sure how to do an image upload, first time...

But here's that CS... Hey, cheap fun.
