a great overall edc?

An Opinel, no pocket clip but it's the most important knife that I own and it'll run ya about $10.

I carry a #9 with the locking ring removed and the pivot pin snugged up nice n tight.

Get one for your birthday and save your cash for the other! That way you can know what really works for you. Ive found that once you get a really fine quality blade, you eventually get the itch to handle other examples. You'll find out what works best for you. The famous Spyderco "middle-finger-flick" got me hooked, ease of opening is fantastic for a manual. I have thumbstud manuals too that are just as quick, and I and almost flick my Buck 110 open with the one handed pinch pretty quick. It is all a matter of preference. Good luck on making your decision!

Thats actually a pretty good idea, There both fairly nicely priced, i could get the benchmade for the present and then get the spyderco manix 2 with my own cash when i get my next paycheck after my vacation in aug.

I've been using my Kershaw Cryo as an EDC for over a month and love the thing, it feels heavy/sturdy in the hand but weightless and unoticeable in my pocket unlike some of the other knives of similar weight I had in the past (strange, but it's probably just me and how I carry it). CRKT Drifter my brother has is another one I would reccomend, as well as an Victornox Cadet.

Go with an Endura or the SAK Farmer. The SAK is elegant and gives you more tools than just a blade. Still, all SAK blades are super cutters and are easy to maintain. However, you have large hands and the Farmer is not a big knife. I've carried an Endura since 1998. I like the combo edge. At first, I hated the idea of serrations on part of the blade, but I found myself in situations where I was thankful for them. The problem I have with the Delica is size. It seems to easily come out of a pocket and be lost. My brother lost his twice. The Endura is more blade length than you need, but it stays firmly in the pocket and sits flat against the side of the pocket. You won't lose it.

Obviously no pocket clip, but still one of the most useful EDC pocket knives I've yet to encounter...

+1, I carry a soldier, but same knife really.

Just to update you guys some. Still looking at a lot of the recommendations that you guys gave. But as for stuff like a Chris reeve and other 400$ things, its just not going to happen. I honestly don't see why you would pay that much for it tbh, and i just honestly don't need something that expensive to be carrying around all the time. I don't want to start any kind of arguments or anything because of feeling like this, Its just not something that's for me, at least not right now anyway.

How about a Kershaw Echelon - nice lightweight with unique blade - those are around $50 if you hunt around.

Or better yet - a Kershaw RAM 1910 ? $75 - $85 shipped at the bay

Unique smooth flipping knife made by custom knife makers G&G Hawk for Kershaw... hope you find a knife that you like and stick with it!

These are the ones that make up my main rotation. I have others, but most days, it's one of these in my pocket.

Left to right: Blur, Skyline, Leek, Delica, Mini-Griptilain, Super Tinker

If you're looking for something different, you should go into the Traditional subforum and spend some time on the "What traditional knife are ya totion' today?" thread.

There are a lot of great choices, but I would recommend a Spyderco Sage 1, or any of the Sage knives. I like the Sage 1 because of the carbon fiber scales. Also has S30V steel, which is a lot of value for the price(a little over $100). It has great ergos and the best pocket clip in the business IMO.
