WINNERS ANNOUNCED - POST #80

Hi folks,
I have to be a wee bit careful in how I word this, I don't want this to be an attention thing to me, This is a massive thanks to you my friends here in Traditionals.
Recently I have been through a very scary, difficult health issue-as we all do in times of our lives, this is to say thank you for your kind messages, and to CELEBRATE, as I had the most outstanding great news yesterday from my specialist.

Cancer these days is in a part of everyones lives, if not yourselves, someone close to you, we unfortunately had Cancer visit my family, and it chose me.
Now at the other end of scans, tests, the fears that have taken my Family hostage, the procedures, and then the big operation. Well I am here, and I left my specialist office yesterday in the highest most thankful - probably stunned state, The Pathologists report came through very well, although I lost a decent part of my body, The cancer didn't try to spread any further at all, all test done of the Nodes and bits and pieces they pulled out are one of the higher rates of success they could give me, this means NO Chemo Therapy -Oh thank Goodness.
This is better than winning Lotto folks, although a few million with this news would have been gratefully received :-)

So to Celebrate, I am gifting - as we all know it feels great to gift a knife.
Thank you everyone here, please, please put your name forward for one of these, and Celebrate having the wonderful life you have with your great Family - I always knew I was very lucky, but one horrible night I didn't realise just how good I had it.
So...please try to give a photo that maybe involves your partner holding your favourite knife-or a photo of something that just makes you feel like you are really alive - like a bush walk etc - Family, pets.

Please forgive me if this sounds silly, I don't mean it to be so
Here are the some knives up for grabs folks.

Here is a gunstock that I didn't know whether I could warm to the blade etch, but after help from our great members here, its one of the better etches that were used on blades of old!, also the jigged Bone is absolutely gob-stopping stunning - I LOVE this knife, and I want someone to also appreciate it's beauty.
I don't think its all that old at a guess I would say 70's - 80's it has Solingen in very small letters etched on the back of the main-very lightly like some of GEC's etching.
But its in Lovely condition!

Also I would like to add these as well, they are 70's Boker knives, these three are all in New condition as they came straight off a display card to me.
TL29 with real nice Saw-cut scales.
A real nice Camp Knife
Small Stockman

This will be given as a set to one winner,

Have fun folks, and once again thank you my friends.

cool photo Paul, and thank YOU my Friend - that's really neat!

Duncan I don't know you like some of the seasoned regulars on this forum. I have been aware of your illness from others posting and wishing you well. I'm glad to hear you're doing better and understand you wanting to share the good news. I've had a few people close to me taken by cancer and thankfully more that have survived. The toll it takes on the person as well as the family is tremendous. The people on this forum are nothing short of amazing when it comes to kindness and support. I wish you well and continued progress in your recovery.
Here's a pic of my inspiration and top knife consultants. They both like the gunstock.:)

Hey Paul, my daughter and I are having a laugh at your photo-the smaller guy behind you checkin' you out like he's saying "Whoa check out the size of that Mother... " lol
great looking kids Brian

Such good news Duncan! I celebrate with you, and am so happy you do not have to endure chemo.

Not an entry, as I have more knives than I know what to do with, but here is my true treasure.

As Paul said, my best friend and wife (though we celebrate just 27 years next month). I also happen to know that both my picture and Paul's were taken on evenings we saw the same amazing band perform, he in Minneapolis, me in Raleigh. I don't remember when Paul told me his was taken, mine was in October 2009.

And, a more recent photo, taken in November 2012, of my dad, my son, and me. Two men I consider among my very best friends in the whole world.

Glad you are doing well Duncan. You have got a real sweetheart in Sue; be strong, get well and hang on to her.

Beautiful knives in your give away; anyone would be happy to have any of them. Of course, that includes me.

Take care of yourself.

I'm so happy to hear that everything has worked out for you!! Very exciting news and I wish the best for you and your family. I lost my uncle to cancer a year ago last month. He was more one of my best friends than my uncle and to see him die such a long slow death really got to me. I was standing right there by his side holding his hand when he took his last breath and I'll tell you that was to this day anyway one of the hardest things I've ever had to experience. It really made me think different and changed the way I look at life in general. Anyway here are a couple pictures of what mean the most to me.

This little man is the light of my life and I have this exact picture as my desktop picture at work because no matter how mad or stressed I get I can look at this picture and it makes me smile and think about how I can't wait to get home to him. Here is Benjamin! :)

This picture is several months old but it is the best one I have of us as a family on this particular computer. She would kill me is she knew I put this up by the way so lets hope I don't get caught lol.

This one was taken within the last month or so.

Thank you for the chance and again I'm so happy for you that everything has worked out for the best! I didn't put up any knife pictures because as much as I love my knives my family is my life. :) Plus getting my better half to pose with a knife just isn't going to happen. She thinks I'm a knife freak. lol

Duncan
I am so grateful that fate has been kind. You are loved. Sometimes these great tribulations open us to a whole new way of looking at life. Each day is a new beginning on our journey to the activation of True Presence. I see great Presence in you, my friend.

And the Moon says good morning to the Sun.

Not an Entry

That's wonderful news Duncan. This is not an entry, finding out that you will continue to be around is blessing enough.

I don't have any pictures of my wife and knives. She humors my affliction, but asking her to sit for pictures with my sharp and shinys is a bit much. Instead here is a picture of the other love of my life, my daughter. She has the makings of a true knife nut, a few weeks ago she said that she wanted a blue knife when I asked her if she wanted a knife like Daddy's. (I'm still trying to decide between a Victorinox Edelweiss or a blue Case peanut.)

This is also not an entry. I just wanted to say I am happy you pulled through this and your family did not have to suffer your loss. You see, dying is the easy part, but the one's left behind are the ones that truly feel the pain. For those that have passed on, their suffering is over. A fact that was brought home to our family this past july when our oldest son passed.

So Duncan, I do not know you, but perhaps one day I may. I just wanted to say that I am glad this has passed for you and especially for your loved ones.

Duncan, you know my thoughts on this, so let me just say congrats again on the good news and I am so happy for you and your family's relief!

Lovely photos of absolutely wonderful family shots-and this is what its all about, thank you to all who have contributed, and please don't be shy of putting your name up for the knives.
Thank you for sharing with us all here everyone, there is some very touching stuff here and the good thing about Traditionals here is that I think the people here are very genuine and good at heart.

Not an entry, just want to say that I'm very happy for you Duncan, my family been fighting with my sister's cancer too for the past 2 years. So I know how difficult it could be. Again, congratulation on the good news my friend, from me and the family.

Duncan, that's wonderful news.
I can't begin to imagine the relief that must be washing over you and your family right now. It's great to hear how this horrible illness can be over come.

To those of you who've written of losses recently, my thoughts are with you.

I'll have to have a ponder and look through my photos and see what I have in the way of a photo entry.

Thanks to you for your generosity, the friendship and camaraderie you bring to this forum.

Enjoy your new found freedom.
