A HEARTFELT THANKYOU TO MY 2nd FAMILY - HERE IN TRADITIONALS *WINNERS ANNOUNCED*

Duncan,

Not an entry, I am fortunate to own one of your knives, but wanted to say thanks for keeping us posted with the great news and thanks for sharing the pic of your beautiful wife. Super happy to hear you won't be further tested by the rigors of chemo. Keep that positive attitude alive, it's a force multiplier. Am proud to call you friend, you're the best.

Not an entry!! I wish only the best for you Duncan. Good news to be sure but please remember; follow-up, follow-up, follow-up.

As "Chief" said above:

Keep that positive attitude alive, it's a force multiplier.

I enjoy your posts. Thanks for sharing your knives with us.

Not an entry but good stuff Duncan. Great news

So...please try to give a photo that maybe involves your partner holding your favourite knife-or a photo of something that just makes you feel like you are really alive - like a bush walk etc - Family, pets.

Duncan, words can't express how grateful I am for your participation here, and for the good report after such terror (and in the midst of ongoing physical duress and the recovery of heart in the aftermath).

In keeping with your request above, here are some pictures from the land that comes up and carries me, the mountain area of northern NH-- specifically, the slopes of Mt. Washington.

I am never so happy as when clambering on these rocks; this is as close to Home as it comes for me, the climbing and moving and the reaching and the breathing here:

My continued best to you, and Sue, and all who love you.

... I wasn't ready to say goodbye.

Even just the notion of having one of your knives, let alone the set o' three, humbles me.

Thanks for the chance.

Here's to more Life. :)

~ P.

Duncan my friend, I am thrilled to hear this news. I've lost many of my friiends to cancer and my own father almost died because of it. Just keep moving forward and keep your spirits high and life will go on. :)

Here's a picture my son took of me recently. I am surrounded by my one true love ( ;) ) beer.

If the saying; "Blood makes you related, loyalty makes you family" rings true, then Duncan, you have one huge and staunch family at BFC!

Power to you brother!

Kris,.

Duncan, I know I don't speak only for myself when I say, thank you for all you bring to our community. I'm so happy to hear that you will be with us for a long time to come.

As for me, I don't often get home, the past few years it has only been once or twice a year but, this is what makes me happy...

One day I will be able to spend my life fishing, hiking and living like a normal human being and she will be there for me.

Congratulations on the good news and best of luck. (Not an entry but I admire your generosity toward others!)

Best news in the world, Duncan! (this is written after I emailed you!)

Not an entry - just a message from a knife brother!

Thank Goodness!!

What CHARLOW said! I'm so glad that you are on the mend, Sweetie!!!
You are loved by Folks all over our planet!
This is NOT an entry, just wanted to say I love you and this forum is a better place because of you!
You have a heart of gold, my Sweet Friend!

Whew.

Duncan, I had no idea of what you and your family have gone through, but do not have words to express how happy I am that things have worked out. I have little doubt that you came out of that journey even stronger and better. (and that is saying something when it comes to you.)

This is not an entry, for the same reason jackknife gave.

Have not been around much of late. A close friend and business partner Robin had a stroke. She is going to have a long journey back, but it will come. Only 50, highly active and athletic (quicker than most guys her age :)). Thankfully blessed in that her mind is sharp as ever, but as she says she will not put anything in her left hand she does not want to drop. :D It is a slow road back, but she is facing it with a great attitude and excellent humor.

WOW
I have been trying NOT to respond to every heartfelt message that has been posted in here.....

Everyone ...just look at how wonderful this place is, I find it hard to accept the praise because everyone here is just the same if not one hang-of-a-lot better.
Its been a hard road for sure, but looking over these pages of peoples lovely messages, you also can see that everyone has a big battle going on-if not their own personal one, but some loved-one very close by, and that is how I tried to look at things - while walking down the hospital corridors tubes coming out everywhere lol, you would see people in the most terrible state, and that very quickly made me stop feeling sorry for myself.

There have been some extremely sad things been said here about your loved ones, or your friends etc, and I haven't just skipped past and dis-regarded those messages. Also the lovely photographs of your wonderfull families, your partners, your great kids - its so good to see.
Thank you everyone so far who have entered here, lets run this for another week, so we don't clog up the system too much, and then we will have the horrendous job of choosing a winner.
Enjoy today :)

Duncan, I'm not trying to stack the odds, but tramping about your backyard (on the Routeburn Track) with my wife/travel partner in crime is among one of our favorite trips. Hard not to feel grateful to be alive in country such as this. All the best to you!

Glad to hear you are well Duncan and received such terrific news. This would be an entry to your generous giveaway if you like(even though I don't really know how to post photos yet).
I lost one sister to cancer years ago, and hunt & fish with two friends now who are both cancer survivors. One poor fellow was lucky enough to beat pancreatic cancer, had it removed. My other friend had cancer in his stomach. Both are in their 40's and happy to be alive.
So I'm happy for all of you. Good health to you.-
-Paul

Duncan, I am very happy that you are well and back to enjoying and celebrating this wonderful thing called life. There is nothing in this life that is more important to me than my wonderful wife, two great dogs, and Montana's natural beauty. Here are a few of things that make it worth while for me. Stay well Duncan

Stunning, beautiful entries my friends, lets finish this Thread at the end of this weekend, I will announce the winner tomorrow night -there quite a few give-aways going on in this great place of ours-so this needs moving out the way.
Have a great weekend, and my next post will end the thread-then shortly after do the announcing.

Duncan,

This is not an entry.
I just wanted to say I am happy to hear of the good news.
It must've been very hard for both you and your family.

Such a nice gesture on your part for the giveaway.

KG

p.s. my wife was just reading this message and I was explaining what the post was about. She said "aww you guys are like a nice community".

Hi there my friends.
Well, both Sue and I sat down and read with great emotion these posts again, this has been an incredible journey of.... well ... many many horrible things filled with desperation, pain, worry, fear and at the end elation.
Many worries. still continue, and I am still struggling with day to day things, but I am getting there, and as I said ...sitting down reading of your struggles and losses, and on the other side the love and beauty of your families, this has been a most important part of my journey, so thank you all whom have opened up and helped us build a strengthening foundation of our new start.

Well it was fun and games trying to choose winners, we just could not sit down and choose, the important messages in here would not allow us to do that, so it was to choose numbers from a bowl...... we had to do this 4 times, I won, then non entry people won, so to be fair we continued...her we go..

2nd place goes to jkulysses - post #44, ( his family shot on page 1 was great as well ).

1st place goes to post nightshifter - post # 76

EDIT - My mistake , Sue was holding the winning numbers, and I accidently put the wrong name and post number down, but this has been honestly rectified - I am sorry to any confusion to any early readers who must have thought ???

Guys please e-mail me dcmorgan@xtra.co.nz and supply me your FULL address, remember this is coming from New Zealand, I haven't experienced too many problems, but I of course cannot guarantee safe arrival, but I am sure there will be NO problems folks.

To EVERYONE here, many many thanks for your kind words which have helped me and my family greatly.

My sincere thoughts and thanks to you all, now lets all celebrate and buy some more knives lol.
