Wow, Duncan, that's great news! Stellar! So glad to hear that your prognosis is looking good. And, I'm happy to know that you have such a loving group of people to lend you support when you need it.
Here's my love, my closest ally, and my most immediate supporter. This is a photo from our wedding day, 8/8/08, on the beach at 139th St in Ocean City, MD. My lovely wife, Christina, and I, lost in the bliss of the moment. I could not ask nor hope for anyone or anything more. She is my raison d'etre (at least, until we have some little ones).
Love you guys (and gals). You're like my second family.
Alex

All this talk about family and whats important to us and I just got a call that my closest friend since we were in the 2nd grade just died this morning. He was on a 4-wheeler down in the field feeding cattle and somehow managed to flip it on top of himself. It was supposed to be a quick thing so after a little while his wife got worried and went to look for him and found it on top of him. Sad sad day especially for his 3 little boys that are 1.5 to 6 years old. :( Things can happen so fast really makes ya stop and think!

Duncan,
as you know, due to our email exchange, I was partly aware of what was happening to you...but it's great to hear these news; considering the situation, you could not ask for more. My job makes me face this sort of situation day by day, and that helps me understand the odds of it.
This is not an entry, just a post to thank you for your endless contribution to this forum, and it's also an opportunity to thank all the people here who, just like you, share the good and bad things of their lives in this porch.
Yes, my picture will come soon as well :)

Not an entry.
But I join with you in your rejoicing on the good news.

Of all the members here, you bring more enthusiasm and more boy-sterous (not an error in spelling) joy to your posts, than anyone else I could name. I am so glad we will not be deprived of that joy for a long time to come.

Not an entry but just wanted to join the others in saying congratulations on the wonderful news! All the best to you and your family, Duncan--wishing you and yours many years of health and happiness!

Duncan, please don't consider this an entry. I haven't been spending as much time here lately, but am truly happy to hear the wonderful news. So many times when the C word is discussed, the news isn't positive.
It doesn't seem that long ago, that you had posted your wedding pictures. I hope you and your beautiful wife have many years of happiness together, and that neither of you have any more health related scares....

Duncan, even though we've never met in person, your good news fills me with happiness, as it did my wife when I told her, too. You're such a large part of what attracted me to this place. I love what you show us, and I've learned from you, as well as others here, not just about knives, but how to be a better part of a community.

No pics of anyone holding any cutlery at the moment, but I do have this collection of fuzzy phone pics of those most important to me.

My best friend and wife, whom I have known for 20 years (half our lives, almost), and married to for 16:

Duncan, look at what you have created here -- this has got to be one of the best threads I have ever followed on this forum. I am deeply sorry for the suffering you and those you love have recently experienced, but it has certainly produced some beauty here on BF. Thank you, my friend, for encouraging all of us through this!

Duncan,

I am glad that you have some good news regarding your health. I'm sorry that you have had to go through so much pain lately. I am sure that all of us have had to go through challenging events in our lives. It's how we emerge on the other side that defines who we are.

Please don't consider this an entry, but thank you for such a generous give away. This picture of my son, back in 2009, was taken a few months after I had bypass surgery at 41 years old. He and I went for a little hike, nothing too crazy. It was a good day.

We never truly know what's important in our lives until we are tested by adversity.

Great news to hear Duncan and I hope it continues for you and your family. Thanks for all you do around here and thanks for a chance at some great knives

Here is a pic of my girls while on a little hike around an island in the Arkansas river. Hiking season is just upon us and I look forward to another year of teaching my little ones about the outdoors and life in general.

Duncan, this is not an entry, as I'm mostly a spectator here, but I echo the sentiments of those that have posted before me. I will say, those are some dandy knives. As one who has provided patient care for over 20 years, I am all too familiar with the ravages of cancer, not only to the one with cancer, but to their loved ones as well. Allow me to extend my heartfelt congratulations on your prognosis, and may you have many more years as a knife enthusiast.

Please excuse me for not posting a picture of the most important thing in my life, but She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed does not like her picture posted.

Not an entry since, though I have read and watched from afar, I've not ever pm'd or spoken to you personally. However, I just want to say congrats on getting well, may every day from here on out be all the more beautiful and valuable for it.

Such great news, Duncan! So happy to hear it!

I can't post a picture of the greatest blessing in my life because she does not want her photos publicized. My wife and I both got married for the first time when I was 43 years old. That was 8 1/2 years ago and my life has never been better. She's a cancer survivor too and she has been cancer free for the past 11 years. We know how fortunate we are and we are both filled with joy to hear of your victory. Such great news!

That Boker Camp knife sure is nice. If I should happen to win it, I can assure you that I will only open one blade at a time. :D

Not an entry but I just wanted to say that it is great to here that you are well. I had a really bad day, but it was nothing to what you and your family must have gone through. Keep well, it is great to have you and so many other great people on these forums. This truly is a good place to be.

I JUST came across this. I know i have been a bit ..absent recently so I have been a bit out of the loop
I am very pleased to hear that your bad news was followed by such good news
glad to see your still with us and look to be for a good long while!

I am reading this at about 7 a.m. Israel time.
I have mostly been away from the forums for some time, so this is the first that I have heard about this.

I am very happy to read that it is good news (despite the problems and stress that it must have caused).
I will raise a cup of good coffee and drink to your continued good health, and wish you and your family all the best.
