So, the moment has come! What you are gonna see is the original crocus polish on the blade, and the etch. I'm mighty sure we now have an original grind to show us an historically correct blade.
On the back, as was the custom, the finish is what is called "glazed", a fine grind, where the lines are still visible. The knife locks up tight as a drum, with no wobble, and snicks open and shut like my Bose WT (a worthy yardstick).
Corrosion spots are minimal, but are good proof it ain't been touched by no stinkin' Drimel, Dramel, Dremel or Drumel!
The swedges and saber grind are true lines; man this knife blows me away!!
It's gonna be the centerpiece of my Empire collection.
For those newer-bies, Empire made these on contract for Shapleigh's, along with the same knife stamped "Empire". Tony Bose has the nicest Ebony Empire I've ever seen. Maybe Kerry will post it here for comparison!!
Without further adoo bedoo bedoo . . . . lookee, lookee, lookee!
I hope you can see the etch, as it is a beauty! And as usual, my scanner adds gouges and mung that just aren't there. ENJOY!!
