"You choose wisely".

Charlie, what a great knife. That was definitly worth the wait! I would love to see that knife in person, I bet the scans can even begin to show the beauty of the knife. Thank you for letting us in on such a great adventure. Congrats to you, and enjoy that knife :D

Great looking knife. There is something about slant bolsters that I just love.

Wow...just wow...what a wonderful thread and sharing of history from our resident historical fund of knowledge.

Mucho congratulato Waynorthiness!! Awesome folder mousedude. :)

Kerry, thanks for adding those AH pics to the thread! The comparison of those two old brothers is nice to see!
I'll tell everyone the story.
I took Tony's Ebony Empire totally apart (after I got a screamin' deal on it), removing all rivets because it was rusted solid, and the wood was cracked to bits on both sides!! I sent it to him because the blade is nearly 100% full, for knifely research, and he restored it from a pile of junk pieces, keeping all parts including the wood, the character, patina, and soul of that knife (I heard its soul gained a bushing:D)! It turned out great, and Tony tells me he muchly enjoys carrying it!!

Compare Tony's restoration to the shinney (sic) crap from Ebay/Bufferland!!
Actually, that's a good name for it; Bufferland! Kind of like all those Disneylands (frontierland, adventureland, fantasyland)!! Makes my ears perk right up!;)

Who needs Annette Funicello with folders like that?
Wow...just wow...what a wonderful thread and sharing of history from our resident historical fund of knowledge.

Mucho congratulato Waynorthiness!! Awesome folder mousedude. :)

Now, don't you talk about my Annie that way, Ford!:grumpy:

Ahem . . .thanks for the compliments anyway:rolleyes:!

:D:D

At least he KNOWS what is waiting for him at the P.O.!! We dont know what it is, or how wonderful it will be when we see it! Charlie...I want a play by play....I want you to tell me what it was like opening the package and seeing the HOLY GRAIL for the first time by your own eyes!! I can't wait, I can't wait!!

I was looking back for the picture, to compare the AH to Tony's latest, and found I missed your request, Ashleykate!

The play by play;
Adrenaline coursing through my body, holding the package very carefully, after receiving it across the counter, I climbed into my truck, and thought "Lord, let it be a good'un!
Fumbling my WT out of my pocket I VERY carefully sliced the tape (mental note; thank the guy for wrapping it well!). Went through a couple of layers of bubble wrap, and some paper towels wrapped with more packing tape. Fought the urge to just slash at it! Good things are worth waiting for!!
Still picking pieces of that durn tape out of my WT.
And there it was, in all its splendor!! I couldn't ask for better! The etch just worn enough to match the age of the rest of it, and factory-looking edge and finishes. A few specks and scratches. It has a wonderful mechanical sound when it snicks open and shut, like someone tuned it for a concert!! The owner kept it oiled obviously. Nice!! There's nothing worse than getting a "dry" knife in the mail. Makes you wonder how many times it grated open and shut, knockin' those beautiful steel molecules off into oblivion! Sets my teeth on edge!
The knife has been questioned, as maybe having some subtle restoration, or re-etching, but I have tried to put myself in a cynical mindset, to criticize it as much as I ever have any knife, and after all that, I believe it's the real deal. I can't believe my luck.

Charlie, I am glad you now have your "hold grail" knife :D I love hearing your stories...they really set the scene, just as if I was there. Sounds like a heck of a find. A great find for a great guy! Congrats again Charlie!
