A Holy Grail!

What a treasure! You have to be grinning ear to ear! Congratulations on a beautiful piece of slipjoint history.

 Wow! What a clip that thing has!

Any ideas on the year it was made?

In post #51, I guessed 1910-1912 Hal, but I was thinking of something else. It's more likely just after WWI, but I'll look further. Gotta go cook now . . .if I could just put this knife down:o!

I just want to thank everyone for taking this little trip with me, and for all the kind words!
I hope you enjoyed this extended journey to the post office, and the shenanigans along the way!! Ain't we got fun!!??

Sweet! Great example of a solid, original, quality knife. I'm impressed by all the sharp faceting of the handle - not an easy thing to do on a production knife - very skilled cutlers there. At least I got the old Shapleigh DE part right in my guesses. :D It deserves to be a centerpiece.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Almost as good as a new bambino......and you only have to pay once. :D

Something like that is so rare in that condition Charlie. I've never seen one that good before. Good for you.

Thanks Joe, ZG, Tony and everyone.

It sure is more fun sharing it with everyone!
One hopes that others who collect will show them here, rather than stashing them at the back of the cave!!

Superb for sure!! Well done sealing the deal on that very fine knife.

Russell

Magnificent, and well worth the wait. Congratulations! That beauty is in good hands.

BTW, don't worry about those nasty grind marks on the back of the blade. A few minutes on the ol' buffin' wheel should shine 'er up better 'n new! :D

Wow and golly, Rick! Thanks for the sage advice! Whooda Thunkit??;)

Saw an old E Weck congress on the Bay a week or so ago that was "totally mint" and all blades had their original "glazed" finish - must be so because he said so. :b This particular weasel obviously didn't know that there is a significant difference between the fine lines of a glazed finish and hitting the blades with a 60 grit belt. Epic fail.

Hoooleeeey Cow!! That is a fine lookin' knife that gives you braggin' rights! Couldn't have gone to a nicer guy. Congratulations!

Beautiful knife with great lines. The swedged clip blade is awesome and the handle design is unique. Way to go!

Now I understand The Holy Grail and why you were so eager to get it.

Very impressive!
Congrats
