A little Bookie/Bawanna collaboration (he did the hard part)

Bawanna, I just had a look through Steve Tall's thread of the R-series, and there is some resemblance to the R7, but the R7 curves to the rear while my design has more of an S-curve to it, curving forward than sweeping back towards the center-line. It's why I've not seen anything like it. I've seen plenty of blades that have a claw-like rear-ward curve of the Jambiya or a skinner, but never quite like this.

And here's the R7:

Emerson SRT

Another rear-curved blade. Lots of them out there, but curiously there are very few blades like my design that curve forward then back. Still, not a bad looking blade. Interesting choice of serration location.

Stwm, are you as much of an Emerson fan as I??? Interestingly enough, the SRT evolved into the Commander series, which features a recurved blade and similar handle. If you combined the 2 knives just right, I think it would be very similar to what Scara has described

I think Mr. Emerson is very cool and has done a lot to bring 'tactical folders' into prominence.
I don't have any Emersons (Commander sounds nice!) - but I would definitely enjoy one! The Kershaw Emersons look good and are more in my pricerange.

The more I hang out in this forum, however, the more I have started to feel that a "Folding Knife is a Broken Knife".

I had to get a Benchmade to feel like I had a hard-use folder that wouldn't close and take off my fingers. Trust my YCS Karda more still now though.

I have a Kershaw-Emerson CQC-7K. It's a sturdy folder. I carry it at times. My usual carry is a CRKT Obake however, because it conceals as well as a folder, and it's a fixed blade. My main issue with carrying a folder is deploying it properly under stress.

They look sort of like a slightly larger version of the kogatana that you find as Kozuka blades. I frequently keep one of those in my shoetop when a bootknife is too large.

STWM I hope you haven't forgotten that you also were going to scan your sketches. No hurry, just don't think Scara's intriguing offering made me forget.

This thread started out awesome with Bawanna's work on Bookie's blank, and now a fun swing through design ideas.

Gotta say, that made me chuckle. Though it did remind me that a long time ago I promised you I'd do a review of the Hasiya as a weapon. Never got around to that.

Thought I got away with it...scanning now.

SO ROUGH...please forgive me.

Top 4 all have Kerambit style rings on the end? The top on has a unique blade shape. I think instead of convex, I would probably sharpen it chisel style. Not sure why, just remind me of those Japanese blades only double sided :D

the 2nd from the bottom looks a bit like a blade I carried for a while. wicked little thing that I loved Not sure why but that narrow point worked pretty nice. Actually now I think about it, it was almost a cross between that and Scara's S-shape blade. Were you planning to sharpen only the bottom/inside or were you going for a sharp swedge on top?

Second from the bottom looks a lot like a Fairbairn Cobra.

Shavru, it sounds like you're talking about a Spyderco Civilian. A friend of mine did a review of the recurved Fairbairn Cobra, and he has an explanation as to why that blade shape cuts so well.

I wanted to change this design a bit with the first one to make it so the corners would cut/slash too... the top design probably was the one I wanted the most but then I started drawing knives and just couldn't stop! Thanks for sharing the Fairbairn Cobra!

I was trying to think of my friends working dangerous jobs without this equipment...

Yall gonna hurt somebody with all these cutty/slashy corners. Hook claws and such.
That second to last does look good for doing pedicures and such.

Have you ever had a look at the Mainz or Fulham styles of Gladius? They look rather similar to the blade shape you drew above.

The 45 is humanitarian. At least that's the story I usually run with when I can get away with it.

I still get along with it in the 1911 but the compact 45's are becoming challenging. Hands are starting to show high mileage I guess. Perish the thought I might have to step down to a mouse gun for a back up. About equal to these cutty/slashy hook claw dealyhymers.
