A little message I recieved today!

Hi Jimmy,

Your knife managed to chew through a couple of 2" X 4" s pretty easily and I did wail into a knot or 3,
matter of fact that's what took me so long.
I hit the second knot pretty good and it STOPPED the blade but not my wrist, wrist rolled enough to pull something
and make it nice and sore for 2 days.
What a baby. :D

Been a little while since I cut any lumber, sore wrist for me but zero edge damage on your blade.
When my wrist was done being sore I chopped another one and still sharp and still cutting very well.
I also cut up some cardboard boxes and did some shaving on a walnut board.

Knife cut, chopped and shaved superbly, Jimmy, and I just shipped it back to you earlier today.
Expect delivery 4/17/13.

Thank you so very much for the opportunity to test it and mess around some, Jimmy, I won't forget this. :)

Hey, Doug:)

Sorry about the wrist. That's no fun at all and I hope it's feeling okay. The pine knots are not only rough on the edge of the blade but on the wrist swinging the blade as well.

Thanks for all the testing and the writing up of the results. Any kind of testing like this takes a lot of time, effort and energy but I also think it's critical to know how each and every knife performs.

You're more than welcome for the opportunity to play around a bit with the knife. You're the one who trusted me with your Shiva Ki, after all. Turn about is fair play.

I'll keep an eye out for the knife. I'd write more but have been going through a bout with kidney stones and am not feeling all that swift right now.

All the best to ya!

Jimmy

Jimmy,

Haven't had time to use it all week.
Getting some rope tomorrow, have 2 X 4.
Sorry so long without proper pics.

Text below is from Jimmy:

Blade will get sharper if someone wants to spend the time with finer grit hones. This is my standard "working edge" that all knives leave the shop with and was put on with a 1200 grit diamond hone in about two minutes then buffed. Stropping works just as well, or maybe a bit better, than buffing... but I was too lazy to strop the thing.

If you remember, I tested it with Shiva's knife without mine having a handle. Here's the way the wrap finished out... with a half-arsed ferric chloride wipe on the blade to show the hamon.

Oh Man. I have no words to describe how seriously awesome I find this knife.
I've just been staring this pic for half an hour.
Like appreciating a movie full of kick-ass action scenes. Kinda hard to unglue from.
Wow.
